I need some motivation to finish my pin restore

That looks great except for the dude being purple. But who'd know without looking at the original picture?

What a buzzkill! My mom always did that shit to me when I showed her my art - immediately pointing out a minor flaw, then complimenting me. No wonder I gave up art.

Bit of a sore subject for me. Sorry for getting bent out of shape.

As for the art - did you build up the playfield to smooth before you painted? I thought I wouldn't have to when using acrylics, but most of the water content evaporates and you are left with completely flat paint. I ended up filling the low areas with clear in between full coats well after touching up.

I also had the same problem with the colors changing on me after clear was applied.

Thanks again guys,
I can definitely relate to some of you guys with the losing inspiration or drive.
Hopefully I can work on this beast over the next couple of weeks and finish it up.

Phet, yeah man I'm planning on throwing down a couple coats of clear and sanding between each coat. That should give it a deep shine and smooth surface. And yeah, I really dig the old fantasy genre pins. It reminds me of Conan/gauntlet/LOTR . Kinda cheesy in it's own way but still cool with great art.

Shardian, yeah I had to build up alot of the areas with extra coats. In some areas I used a base coat of a lighter color. Looking back I probably should have sealed it first then applied the paint. I'm hoping that with the application of the first clear coat the colors don't run or smear. I've cleared over acrylic in the past and I usually have good luck if it's thoroughly dry first so we'll see.

Wade, yeah, the guy does look a little discolored in the pic but not as bad in person. I actually intentionally darkened the skin color because in the pic of the original I had, the guy looked like he had hepatitis. He was all yellow, so I gave him a slight tan. We all know that fantasy warriors had tans right? :)
