I have been working on this Ms pac chassis . The problem is it randomly will get power to the monitor. sometimes i turn it on on its great other times i turn it on and it starts to power the monitor then stops. I turn it on and off serveral times and it will work. Ive taken the board off and checked for cold solder and desolderd and resolderd the connections that were loose or weak . I have noticed that i have this one part that looks to have cap residue on it ( It looks like dew on grass in the morning)I really dont know what the part is ? ITs square with abar going over the middle of it . Ill attach some crappy pics of it. Does this thing hold power to giv ethe monitor juice or what . What should i look for. i looked at the caps that are above and around it and they all look fine with no swelling so what next. I really want to fix this so I can sell it . Other than this problem its a great Ms pac. Well on to the pics . i hope you guys can help. I also wanted to know what is the easiest way to tell what kind of chassis it is . Were are the lables and what do i look for (numbers ,letters, etc) Thansk guys for all your help.PEACE!!!

Don't worry about that little transformer with the residue on it, they all look like that.

The P447 in your picture indicates this is a 19" K7000.

Check the two pins on the power cord going to the monitor.
Try turning the machine/monitor on and tugging that connector back and forth. (see if it is loose)

Probably has some cold solder joints, too. very common for those on this model. Look in the K7000 sticky at the top for a pic of the most common areas to check for cold solder...

Cool thanks guys .Ive been fighting this stupid thing for a month! Ill take off the board and check it again . Ive wiggled the power connection and all the wires that are in the cab but i dont get a glich? The problem seems to be that there is leak of power somewhere. If i let the game sit overnight ,I have more problems getting it to turn on. I usually have to turn it off till i hear a high pitch sound that sounds like a discharge of energy (ghostbuster backpack)if that makes since. Then when i hear that i turn it back on and the monitor will start to turn on then go out. A few more times and its fine , turn it on an hour or so,still fine. I just dont get it .What can be wrong with this thing. The guy i bought it off of said it was fine until he moved it , so it sounds like a loose connection. Im sure its something stupid that i overlooked so keep the advice coming. Thanks again guys.PEACE!!!
