i need piece of mind...plugged or unplugged?

Yeah, but you can join the rest of us on that one. If lightning directly strikes the house, it might burn down!

Yeah, exactly.

At some point you have to draw the line, say you've done enough, and live life.

If I get into a particularly nasty lightning storm I may unplug the surge protector from the wall. Beyond that I don't worry about it.

i just had my arcade rewired and put on seperate breakers with thier own switches all plugged into power strips/surge protectors, with a full surge protector on the breaker box! should i still leave them plugged into the outlets? what do you guys do?

I wouldn't unplug anything unless there was a SERIOUS lightning storm brewing. Even then, I'd probably just turn off all the breakers and leave it at that.

Anything that can jump a turned off breaker, blow past the box suppressor, blow past the surge suppressor strip, AND jump the machine's own switch is probably just going to burn down the house anyway from making all the other appliances explode. So there's not really much point in going any further.

You REALLY don't have much to worry about.

I would just cut the power cord from the game and toss it in the trash. No way that baby would get power then and there would be no reason to worry.

Heck, a lot of times I just fill my game room with non-working games anyway. That way there are games in there and I don't have a risk of whatever it is you are afraid of...I guess that would be 'easy access to playing them'...maybe?

We have three 20amp lines going into our game room and around 25+ games. I never unplug them.
Heck, we use to keep all the games on 24/7 (for months) without any fears, until I became unemployed.
