I am working on a mame system and can't figure out the hardware part of it. I have an ArcadeVGA card with the Jpac and for the life of me I cant get the stuff to work right. I live in Sturgis Michigan and would love for someone close to me, to come to my house and help me out. I would be willing to pay for the help and even throw in a couple beers while we work. Any takers? Email or PM if you can help........

I have a MAME cab using a JPAC, and it had an AVGA in it until recently -- no real issues. If you have any questions, I can try to help out. Not sure if I'd have time to make the drive down to Sturgis, however.

That said, yeah, BYOAC is probably a better place for support for MAME cabs. The people here tend to be purists, where BYOAC is much more centered on MAME.

I have real cabs as well. I just don't have the space for every game I like to play. I also build my own touch juke boxes, that doesn't mean I don't like 45's. I just knew that most of the people here are nice to work with and they wouldn't get all pissy about a mame question.

I wish that were true, but I think for the most part, it couldn't be more wrong. I think those of us who came here from BYOAC are the only ones that will talk about MAME constructively.

I still have a jpac in my cab, and I used to have an AVGA. I am on the west coast, but feel free to pm me with any questions. We might be able to get it figured out online.

What's up with everyone comming here for mame

What's up with people posting useless comments like this, if you don't know the answer to the OP's question then why bother posting a useless comment like this? No one is forcing or tricking you into reading this thread so next time you see MAME in the title just move on.

Anyways to the OP, did you check to make sure you have power to your JPAC? To power it get a PS2 cable and I believe you hook it from the KEYBOARD port on the JPAC to a PS2 port on the computer. My friend uses the mouse port so it doesn't conflict with his USB keyboard if that makes any sense.

Thanks to all that will help. First off, I format my system and install the AVG drivers. I have to force them and when I do you have a choice of several ArcadeVGA2 and ArcadeVGA2 Secondary drivers. I install 1 of each and hope it works, but it doesn't. When I restart I only can see my computer monitor and not my WG. Now if I unplug my monitor and restart the system the WG will show a split screen that is all blury. But I can't get both screens to show at once. Also on the Jpac, the test light is green, the sync ok is green but the synk in is yellow..... is that right? Anyhow, this is why I am having problems (besides Im a little slow) with this stuff. I basically need a step by step or Im lost. The bad thing about it all is that I am usually good at things like this.

It is not made for both to show at once. Do the initial setup on the PC monitor, then when you are ready to switch over, drop the resolution to 640 x 480. I usually get most of the stuff installed, then hook up the arcade monitor. After that I remote in to do any work on it.

It sounds like you don't have it sending the right frequency to the WG. It should be displaying at 15Khz and 640X480 .
