I am rebuilding one qbert still and par tof what is missing is the little deal inside the front on top of the coin box with the volume contol/test mode, etc.

In the manual the part for volume control is referred to as: xo-104

Ok so I go to frye's and the closest thing I found was from NTE electronics.
Here are all the numbers on the part:
501-0015
KU1041s28
100k OHM
single-turn/linear
RV4NAYSD104A
CARBON

I picked this one because of the (104) in the part # from the manual
and this one appears to be a 104A(amp) piece. Did I make the right choice?

It appears that this is a 100k, so I should be good then no?

thanks bud

Probably not...

I mean... It'll work, but it won't act the same way as the old one.

There are two main types of pots: linear and audio taper. The audio pot takes longer before it starts increasing resistance and increases dramatically more as you keep turning towards the high end.

You might find this pot a bit hard to adjust at lower levels.

I wouldn't know how to match it very closely or exactly to the old one.

Is there something specific I needed to be looking for?

Q*Bert Potentiometer Question

Hi.

I looked at the schematics, and if you are talking about the "service Panel Assembly" pot, then you have the wrong one. The schematics show a 100 Ohm 2 watt pot. This pot is wired in series with the speaker wires and has to be able to handle the full output power of the amplifier. This pot is likely a linear taper but, as was mentioned before, either linear or audio taper will work. The 100K Ohm pot you have will most likely cause you to have no sound at all. The part number in the schematics is just an in-house number and is not related to the actual part value.
Frys MIGHT have the pot but I do not know if they carry high wattage types. Anything 2 watts or more that will fit is ok. (2 watters are pretty big) BG Micro is an online place that has some unusual stuff and Jameco, Mouser, etc... will definitely have them if you need other stuff too or don't mind the shipping cost.
