I might be able to get a star trek and a star wars upright

Check out these pictures and give me some quick thoughts. It's a good friend of my uncle's we've know for years. This is up in Louisville and he said "$100 apiece and they're yours". He has put off selling for years.

I'm having my uncle go back and open them up to get a lot more pics and see if anything powers on. He did say one the side/bottoms of one of the machines don't look in great shape. I don't know if that means completely rotten or just some bowing out. Anyway, I'm gonna jump on these if I can. I would love to restore them. And I hope someone would let me borrow a truck to go get them!

I'm just looking for some first impressions from you guys to kill time.

Roger that. I wonder the dimensions and any packing tips or what size truck I would need. I think I can borrow a ranger. It's only a 5 hour drive.

yeah... I'd be like here's your cash... and then I'd GTFO. Why wait for pictures? Even if they're DOA the parts alone would pay themselves.

I like to use stretch wrap and cardboard myself... here's a link for home depot, but most places have the larger rolls

Oh and you said a 5 hour drive... be sure to pick up a roll of duct tape too. I've found on longer drives the stretch wrap likes to slowly loosen up and start to make an awesome flapping noise, lol... I use the duct tape to wrap a full 360 around the machine to attatch to itself (tape on tape) in trouble areas.

I can go take pictures for you. Let me know address. Great find but you need to get there yesterday.

This is a no brainer. Go rent a truck if you can't borrow one and GO GET THESE NOW!!!!!!! Do a search for for star wars flight yoke on ebay to give you an idea of how good of a deal this is. The cabs look to be in decent condition. Guys on here have restored a heck of a lot worse. This is not a $2000 pinball machine that you need to thoroughly inspect, it is a $100 STAR WARS!!!! Or it is a $200 Star Trek and the Star Wars is free. The yoke is worth $150 alone. Non-working Star Wars boardset, another $150. Do I need to keep going. I am in Ohio. If your not going to get these, give me the guys contact info. It's time to shit or get off the pot!!!!!!

I'm ready to shit, just need to find a truck, lol. He said I can have them so it's a done deal. I already have the message relayed that I want them now for the asking price. I just need to know what kind of truck it'll fit in. I don't want to rent a $350 uhaul. Will a ford ranger work? Do I need to take out the glass?

If the Ford ranger has a tow hitch just go rent a trailer from Uhaul it's like $17 bucks for the day were I live and you don't have to worry about space issues.

You can fit them upright in a ranger, but Ill echo the other thoughts, get the ranger, and go, youll fit them in, wrap and strap, a small uhal trailer is cheap too, these types of deals have a way of dissapering if he tells neighbors, friends etc...

I would agree on the small Uhaul trailer. Get in and get out. Don't even bother to look inside them. Just wait to get home to reveal the goodness of great finds. As said already, there are 3 items on the Star Wars that if they are just there that are worth $150+ each (yoke, pcb, monitor).

How close are you to Kingsport tn. If you want I will pick them up for you and deliver them to this weekends auction. Just pm me not looking to get in your deal just lend a hand. I will be pulling a enclosed trailer so no need to worry about rain. I basically live in Louisville ky

That's really cool of you. But I'm 480mi, 8 hours away from Kingsport.

There is one of those awesome chicken egg machines on CL for $600 here. Wish i could own one.

I love my chicken machine the wife thinks it's stupid but what does she know. If you end up here Friday or Sunday drop me a email. I have a couple games if your looking for something to do for a sec. Good luck on the deal. Tony

Quick Truck? Menards!

Best truck rental deal I have found is Menards. The price is pretty low - I made a run to Chicago from 70 miles out, picked up and unloaded two pins, and returned the truck. It cost around 1/2 of renting one from U-Haul. ($50 bucks, max).

Can anyone describe what i need and how they would put these 2 in a ranger? Wrap in plastic and cardboard and hope there are hook to tie rope or straps to? Or will they lie down? I dont think they would lie down.

I have a 2002 Ranger and you can only get 1 game in the back lying flat. However, if you were daring and had enough straps, you might be able to get both laying in the back if you place the front of the cab up against the wheel wells and let the backs rest against each other. Only the edges will likely touch the bed, but if you strap them down and can shut the gate, they shouldn't go anywhere. Other option is standing up and both should fit.
