I took all of the advice given on the forums and purchased some Bob Roberts Sanyo 20EZV Deluxe cap kits. After purchasing a 20EZV chassis from Chris on the boards I replaced the bad chassis a couple of months ago. Just last night I got up the courage to install the cap kit, and it was a success~! So thank you for help me lose my "cap kit" virginity I've got a couple more chassis to go and hope they go as smoothly as last night.

Great! The fun part begins when replacing all the caps, HOT, VR, and flyback - and fixing all the cold solder joints - doesn't fix it...

congrats man.....

hey, haul anything with the new trailer yet?

thanks again for coming over and having some food and fun at my party a few weeks ago

See, it's not so bad is it?

I'm a new owner myself, with a grand total of 1 cab, and all those wonderful things are starting to happen! God it seems like yesterday when I thought a cap kit would fix darn near anything! Those where the days.

Yea, I hauled home a 33" Showcase cab a few weeks ago from auction.

You forgot the part when you apply power to the rebuild for the first time and:
1.) You hear "POP"
or
2.) You hear zzzzzzzztttt "POP"
or
3.) You smell electrical burn
or
4.) The fuse lights up like an electric chair and then blows
or MY FAVORITE
5.) This is an unknown chassis you just rebuilt and when applying power you see the top of the flyback resemble a miniature 4th of July.

Actually, those are easy to fix, because it's usually only a few possible parts that are bad.

Go read my G07 Repair story when I had only red showing, but the problem wasn't in the color circuits...
