I like the new forum

the site layout/functionality/aesthetic isn't that different, if i can handle the changes, you can too

As reported, the tag system has issues that will take time to fix. However, I just turned on viewing of them. They are appearing at the top of thread pages though, instead of at the bottom. I liked them at the bottom better...

Nice job on updating the forum . Its better than the old one ! .....but if people complain its because majority of the people here are stuck in the 80's ...including myself.......and we usually don't like change ....we like everything outdated ....I literally would still be using Windows XP if I could .

Thanks for all of time, effort and money that has been put into the upgrade. It's definitely different and will require a bit of experimentation. I use an Android phone and can say that the search functionality is working great on this system. I just deleted Tapatalk and am so happy to have that app gone! Google search results with forum links pop right up now... Awesome!
Well said! Thank you.

So far the only issues I've seen/had are:

- Searches either miss stuff or suggest stuff from 15+ years ago (I know there are newer threads).
- Being able to edit post.
- How to see a more condensed list of new posts.

Best of all..... No ads!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!

I just confirmed that that setting is enabled. I'll check it out on my laptop when I get home. Probably a lot easier to mess around with it on there

Is there any way to make quoting a post easier? Less clicks?

Looks like the signature is only displayed with the first post someone makes to a thread, but not subsequent posts they make to that thread?

Also, is BBCode fully supported in signatures? I can't seem to get a URL link to work properly.

Another BBCode question: does the THREAD tag no longer work? I used it as a way of linking from a post to another thread, but I don't see it in the new list of supported BBCode tags.

Overall though, I'm happy with the upgrade!

You should take a look through the new forum-related sticky threads, as both of these things are mentioned.

The sigs are only displayed for the first instance of a post, to save space.

There was also a mention about the BBcode in sigs, but I don't recall the details. But sub to those threads to stay aware of changes, as mclemore is still tweaking stuff.

how are you trying to format your link?

how are you trying to format your link?

I've tried two ways, neither of which seems to work:
Code:
[URL=https://www.arcade-museum.com/]Main Site[/URL]
[URL]https://www.arcade-museum.com/[/URL]
In the signature editing window, if I toggle BB Code, enter the above tags, then toggle back and hit Preview, the links are displayed properly in the rich text editing window but not in the actual preview window. If I then click Save, it apparently strips out the URL tags, leaving what you see now in my signature: just plain text with no hyperlinks.

Xenforo's BB Code requires an apostrophe before and after the actual url when using description text over the url.

For example

Main Site
Code:
[URL='https://forums.arcade-museum.com/']Main Site[/URL]

A normal url should be okay without apostrophes
Code:
[URL]https://www.arcade-museum.com/[/URL]

It's not working, with or without the apostrophe. And for the plain URL tag, not working at all either for me. Also, the URL tags are just getting stripped out entirely from my signature once I hit save, close the page, and open the signature editing page again. All that's left is the plain text you see now.

It seems other BB Code tags aren't getting stripped for me, like for italics or underline, but the URL tags get stripped each time.

yeah this looks like a permissions issue. Apparently urls in your signature is disabled. Only problem is, those that had urls in their sigs before the conversion still have theirs.

Thanks! Yeah, I had a link in my signature block before — using the old THREAD tag to link to a restoration thread. The migration broke that old THREAD link so I was trying to fix it with a new URL link.

It's horrific looking. I hope a dark theme comes.

There is one. It just isn't listed in the options at the bottom of the page for some unknown reason. However if you see the list of themes under your account settings, there's a dark theme there. (I'm running it now, as I found it much easier than any of the others.)

There's a bunch, but it doesn't give any indication to which is dark. EDIT: I just tried "Shadesof Grey". Wish it was darker.
