I like how this turned out! Full Screen Pole Position!
Today I got around to testing the monitors I pulled out of some horribly weathered games. Heres a backstory. A Swollen-like-a-sponge Roadblasters supplied me with a K7901 monitor with light burn, nothing bad. After cleaning the chassis and making some adjustments, I find that the image was projected way too large for most games. See picture 1. I couldnt find the width coil at the time (to tell you the truth, I didnt give much effort) so I put the monitor aside. Thats when I got to thinking.... Since Pole Position's video output is smaller than most games, I wondered what it would look like?
So I figured that since I didnt have a monitor shroud for my Pole Position anyway, I gave this K7901 a try. After some adjusting of the pictures position, it looked amazingly nice! Then I took a 19" monitor shroud I salvaged from the Super Strike that has long since been destroyed, and fabricated a new shroud for the Pole Position. And viola! I am racing in full 19" and it doesnt look half bad at all! A cap kit will be in order eventually, but I definitely prefer Pole Position to be in full screen rather than the tiny little square it usually is.
The last picture shows what my old monitor looked like prior to putting in this newfound K7901.
