Umm…you would be moving into crazy cat lady territory only with arcade games instead of cats. Even Noice keeps his turtles in a separated garage. LOL

I have an idea...
Since you're just talking making a doorway through a closet, leave it as is and....WALK YOUR LAZY ASS TO THE SECOND ROOM!
Seriously though, do two different themed rooms or something. Got pins and vids? 1 type in each room, or do an age based theme(Classics/EM+SS in one room, newer games in the other).
Because... Then it's not one giant arcade room!![]()
Building a 2nd story is out of the question, I presume?
Do you remember FullThrottle's house cade pics? That was awesome to see back in the day. Your home could be the same...
Didnt he sell a bunch of shit in order to get pussy again?

If you really want to join the two room together, I would make an opening not bigger than 4'x8'(the size of a sheet of sheetrock) where the arcade closet is and leave the closet in the office. The hallway wall should be the one that is the bearing wall so you should not have to worry about support. Very easy to remove and put back if you move. Just make sure that there's no ducts or electrical in the wall you are taking down.
This is good advice. worst case scenario you open up the arcade Closet, remove a stud or two, and you're gonna have to cut out a section of the bottom plate. Whatever you do make sure it's reversible for re-sale value.
do not remove any other closets
...I am seriously considering converting my office into an arcade extension.
Obviously I am single.
Looking for legitimate advice, here. I know everyone's first instinct is simply "Do it! Do it!" but I already have 1 of my 3 bedrooms as an arcade, and am not sure if converting another one is the best idea. Especially since I'm considering taking out a closet between the two to have a walkway through.
- The pros:
- It's my house. I'm single. It would be awesome.
- More room for games. Blacklights. Neon carpeting. You all know these perks.
- Could still have friends crash/spend the night with an inflatable mattress or whatnot.
- Could possibly combine with my "office" stuff in the same room, and just get room dividers or something if/when I throw arcade parties.
Am I being stupid for even considering doing this? 2/3 of the bedrooms in my house as gamerooms?
- The cons:
- Would this hinder a home sale if/when I ever move? Having 2 rooms adjoined? Or no biggie?
- More money I don't have... For mirrors, games, lights...
Here's a quick top-view drawing of my house I made. (Roughly to scale, but didn't finish measuring the kitchen/laundry room) One of the 2 closets between the rooms would get axed for the walkway if I did this.

Whaddya think?
I'll probably be single forever anyway...
But yeah, everyone knows it would be neat/cool, I just don't want to make a bonehead mistake if it's not in my best interest.
Women usually want to move into a new house, anyway...
