I know I may get shot for saying this but,

I haven't received any trophies in this game. Is it not supported or do I just plain suck?

The XBox 360 version has a section in each table called "Goals" that lists 5 or 6 things you can do for each table. Some are just point thresholds, some are doing special things specific to the game.

XBox version rewards you with credits and a mark next to the goal.

Theres trophies on the ps3 version. Ill check it out tonighy and see if i can pull some specific ones. I was wanting to play totan this morning but necer got a chance. :/

Just picked this up used for the ps3, and I'm loving it. On the ps3 the goals are different than the trophies. If you complete all the goals the table unlocks freeplay, which gives you a trophy when all are unlocked. After selecting a table, but before starting it, scroll down to the high scores. To get the trophy for each table, you must get a score that breaks one of the top 5. There's also a trophy for completing the williams challenge, which also unlocks jive time for play.

This is all crap. Speaking of high scores on fake video pins. Sorry. If it aint real it don't count and isnt worth playing.

There is a very valid point at the core of this curmudgeonly comment. ;)

I have two of the games represented in this compilation and my high scores on the virtual versions are both more than double their real-world counterparts. That fast, floaty ball on makes for overly easy ramp shots and lots of physically improbable random happenings.

Oh STFU and go piss somewhere else. Its limited to this thread. Its not like someone took their scores off it and posted on the tourney thread.

Perhaps my post was curmudgeon and came across harsher than its intent. But STFU? Really dude? Chill.

lol. i don't get the hate for a simple video game either.

fwiw, and i've said this a hundred times on here, video pinball/emulators ARE a very good indicator of whether or not you'll like a game when you play it for real. matter of fact, i bought my who dunnit, my starship troopers, and my BSD based on the virtual versions of the pins...i had never played them live before. they do not emulate the physics and gameplay 100%, but you can get a great idea of the sounds, layout, shots, game modes, etc and make an informed decision on whether or not to pursue a purchase.

Maybe it was a bit harsh. Chalk it up to years of posting on a forum where people were regularly allowed to be total assholes unchecked, and people outside the mod's clique were banned at the slightest borderline thing. Means I have a very low bs threshold.

I watched a video of SST a few weeks ago. The popup brain bug is awesome.

yeah.

it gets banged on because it's a sega, because the movie was a total cheese-fest, and because very few people have actually played it.....but i find the pin to be pretty fun and damn challenging. i started a thread on it a while back, but i have absolutely no idea where the points are in this game. very tough to put up a big score.

and the ramps.....damn those ramps. they are ever so slightly thinner than your typical ramp and ever so slightly brought inward from where your typical ramp would be. you wouldn't think it would make a big difference but it makes it very difficult to hit the damn things consistently.

I went from cylinder bumpers to upside down cone bumpers on my Shuttle ramp and it made a good differrnce in how hard it was to shoot it consistently.

I liked the difficulty of the cylinders but was getting a TON of popped airballs off them. I still dont know which ones are technically correct.

I think I've said this before in a different thread but I do think there is value in the video pins. Playing the video Haunted House helped me notice that my cellar lights were not working properly on my real Haunted House. I did not notice this until I played the vid. Little things that aren't working can often go unoticed with nothing to reference them.

Yeah. I know the rules on my shuttle are a bit off, theyre different than factory i think. Only grevious one actually makes it harder though. In the ps3 one you get the ramp letter just by hitting the drop target.

On mine, you actually have to hit the target and shoot the ramp.

The service switch in my coon door is the wrong one or doesnt work properly so i cant get in the menu to reset everything.

Have to agree. Whats my alternative? Travel 500 miles to someones house so i can see if i really like the play in a 198x badcatz?

Pinball emulators are great and lot of fun, the effort on mostly all the tables is damn near close enough. It will never never never replace the real thing, thank god.

That is why "real" pinball will also have more value than arcade machines (theres another argument, BUT no computer will ever repro the silverball movement 100 percent).

good point on the computers. i really, really want a pincade and plan to have that as the last addition to my pin row once i run out of room.....but a computer will never replace the feeling of a real pin.

but i gotta come clean on one thing.....buying a pin off of a virtual play session only isn't 100% foolproof.....i bought my white water that way too. and hated it. :)

Nothing's foolproof-you could go to a friend's house and play something for a couple of hours, buy your own and figure out that after a few weeks it loses it's charm. You never know for sure, but virtual pins can be one tool in making the decision to buy or not buy a given pin.

I agree it's not real and the scores don't "count" in my mind either. Definately fun playing though, despite the fact that there's no true substitute for the real thing.

My scores on Funhouse, Whirlwind, Black Knight and Taxi are actually very similar to my scores on the real games.

Do you want to sell your White Water?
