Just for clarification. Not every 100 degree, 19" tube is going to work on a 6100. First you need to have the same number of pins. Second, they have to match the pinout of the VLUP tube that came with the 6100. Next, you will need the keyed socket off the end of the old broken 6100 tube to transfer to the replacement tube so that the neck board from the 6100 monitor will fit, or else you will have to change out the socket on the neck board. Finally, the VLUP tube is different from most standard TV tubes. Monitor tubes for arcade games are not necessarily the same as TV tubes as the phosphor coating is different.
BS you say? Well, I happen to have 3 TV sets with 100 degree tubes and I can state for a fact that the phosphor coating of the TV tube is darker and "grainier" than the typical whitish 6100 monitor tube. They may have put the phosphor on extra thick, I don't know. There is a code to distinguis between TV tubes and arcade tubes but I don't recall which digit/letter it is in the tube designation. I have that info somewhere. I am still not sure these tubes are 100% compatible but will get that info and photos posted to the group.
Finally, the TV tubes I have aren't for sale as I need them to fix 3 "necked" G08 tubes that need to be replaced. Any yes, Sega G08's used the same tube as the 6100 but the yoke is different as well IIRC. I will take photos in the next few days and try to post them here for clarification.
Oh yeah, good luck finding 100 degree tubes. Out of all the TV sets from the 80's and 90's I have cracked open, only one brand had 100 degree tubes in it. Zenith model S1989W3. I still have not confirmed that the tube is pin compatible so far but it looks good as far as pin count and configuration. These are the donor candidates for the tubes I have. Just started the conversion process today.
Again, this is provided for clarification, not to slam anybody. Seemed like a good thread to do it.
