only been into these a few years off and on only got 2 vids right now and a coin opp dart board there in my living room and like to see'em on all the time.have had them on for about a year no problem's it just reminds me everyday day of when i was a teenager (im 40) just was wondering am i harming'em or are they a fire danger? i do live in an apartment.

Let's see -

1) Shorter life for the monitor, and marquee/coin lamps.

2) Constant power probably means you'll have power supply issues faster than if you only turn it on when you want to play.

3) Higher electricity bill.

What else?

point taken, hey im a newb what do ya expect? just askin' but they are cool to wake up to:)

thanks.......

bty i'll turn them off tonight before i go to bed, just to see how it goes.

I usually turn mine off after I get finished playing them, but I might leave them on for a bit if I'm around the house and am planning to come back to play some more shortly.

I have to disagree, they're your games do with them what you want If you want to see them on all day and if you enjoy them that way leave them on! :) whatever breaks can be fixed

It is gonna be dark.
Turn them On , And Enjoy Them,
Wake up To Your Memmories.
Enjoy,
You will never screen burn them In Your Life time.
But ,If Your House Burns Down ,
OOPS.

I know a guy that has a few games and slot machines. Leaves them on all the time. I swear that xevious has been running for at least 6 years that I know of. I put a new monitor in it about 3 years ago and it is starting to show the xevious burn in the middle, but otherwise working perfectly.

You can get a 15 amp appliance timer that you can set to come on right before you get up, and to go off before you leave, and on again when you get home, and off when you go to bed.
For round numbers, each game uses somewhere between 150 and 200 watts each, so its kinda like leaving 3 light bulbs on per game all the time (not to mention wear and tear on the games themselves). If you only ran them 8 hours a day, you'd save about $24.00 a month on your utility bill. (For people wanting numbers 3 games =~500w/hour (1/2 kw per hr) 12 kw per day, 360 kw/month @ $ 0.10/kw,= 36.00/month reducing it from 24 hours a day to 8 hours = 1/3 the utilities, or a savings of 24.00 a month).

Do you let your car idle 24/7?

I would say a computer analogy would work better. And yes, I leave my computer on all the time. My games stay off most of the time. But when I am working on a score and want to play whenever; I will leave it on for a couple days and not think twice about it.

Ive known lots of people who left one or more (if not all) of their games on constantly simply because they were afraid their game would "die" if they turned it off.

I figure they are a lot like a television set. Does anyone leave their tv on 24/7?

By the way cdjump....you have way too much time on your hands to come up with that formula....LOL

60% of my arcade home service calls tend to be games that were left on 24/7, and abut 95% of my arcade operator service calls are games that are left on 24/7....

i do leave my t.v. on 24/7 58"dlp never turn it off my light bill for my 1000 sq ft apt runs about 3-400 a month BUT i dont pay rent (im the super) so kinda off sets also i play almost every night have beaten evey game in my PC10 multiple times and gettin pretty good at darts if i dont say so myself.:)

yeah I say whatever suits you is the right answer.

but if you don't know how to work on them, you ought to turn them off. Or, just be willing to learn on here as you go.

I knew nothing and can fix a lot of stuff now. All learned here (bob roberts as well)

I have mine on when I am in the garage either working or playing them. my games probably average 1-2 hours a day of being on.

Hello! no one has mentioned anything about killing the environment. That's a waste of energy sir! Go watch Al Gore's movie and shame on you! ;)
