"I just wanna get rid of it- make me an offer"

I've now heard this twice.. and I now know it's a total bullshit lie, because both times I actually MADE an offer (and it was an honorable offer, not a few coins in my hand), and it was DECLINED. I wanted to say to the person "you just said you just want to get rid of it and now it's gold??"

I hate humans. ;)

yeha you gotta love that krap..

wait a month then when they still have them offer them $50 LESS THEN YOU DID LAST TIME, lol..

doesent always work but if its meant to be yours sometimes the waiting game works..

Did he say "make me an offer" or did he say "I'll take whatever you offer"? There is a difference. Just move on. :)

In both instances it was the first- "I just wanna get rid of it. Make me an offer"

I went through that twice yesterday with two different sellers..

I want it gone, no one has made me an offer I don't know what I want just make an offer.. so I did.. then they said they didn't want to take the offer, I asked what it would take to load them up right now and they couldn't tell me.. so I walked..

I did have an awesome CL transaction back in Dec however, I saw a pinball listed for $100. I called the owner, we set up a time and when i got there after work she says "I got like 15 calls after you and well I might have lied about something"... and I'm thinking "oh sh*t here it comes, the price is going up"... instead she says "I thought it worked when i placed the ad, but only the lights come on now that i've tested it" - AWESOME! I could care less - I don't expect 25 year old machines to work for $100.

She told me that one guy offered her $200 if she'd tell me to piss off but amazingly she declined and said that if I didn't want it she'd call him back, and then told me that she realized it was probably worth more but that was the price she listed it for and she'd honor it regardless.

Then when I paid her, she started calling the list of people who called after me to tell them sorry but the 'first' guy bought it.

Most honest person I have ever done business with on CL. I wish everyone was like her!

I had that happen with the Diner pinball I bought a few weeks ago, except the "2nd" guy was offering me $100 to walk away. I'd gladly have taken $100 if it wasn't a must own machine for me. The guy I bought it from honored his word and sold it to me which was nice instead of all the horror stories I read about on here.
