What made me gag was seeing his title and then clicking and having *that* picture come up... if the title of the auction was "Wizard of Wor Project" or something similar I wouldn't have been as shocked I guess.

Wizard of Wor is my all-time favorite game so this especially hurt. ;)

WoW

Sigh - I hope this wasn't an actual WoW (ie, complete, working) that they stripped. I was talking with someone in that area about picking up one and was all prepared to head up there and pick it up. The emails stopped and I finally called and I got "Oh, I sold that, sorry".

Maybe it was already trashed, at least I can hope.

I've got too many projects!

For future info - does someone make repro side art and CPO for WoW?

Makes no money on location... makes no money on location... makes no money on location...

When are you guys going to stop beating the dead horse? These old games got to a point to where it cost more to keep them plugged in then they made in a month (I've seen a game make a quarter over a 4 week time period).

Seriously guys. Chill.

Are any of us using our games on route/location? Seriously? Any of us?

Probably not but 9 times out of 10 a game ends up like this at the hands of an operator or his tech because it didnt make money anymore... Why else would a WoW get JAMMA-tized???

Heres one example. SFII, the kit was $1500.00. The game earned between $200 and $1000.00 PER WEEK for about 2 years. Lets do a little math. On the low side that would be $10,400 over the course of a year. Split that between the OP and the location and you have $5200.00. Deduct the $1500.00 from the ops side and you have $3700.00. Now, multiply that by about 40-50 cabinets and you have your self a butt load of cash. Highside, $52,000 per year. I think you can figure out the rest.

These old games got their guts ripped out of them because... wait for it... THEY DIDNT MAKE ANY MONEY ANYMORE... You guys that keep asking "why" need to think about that.

However, there are some numb nuts that would take a perfectly nice game like a WoW and MAME it. I agree that this sort of thing is stupid. I would probably also ask "why" in that case but I dont think this particular WoW met that fate.

Sorry... I guess I mistook this place as somewhere I could discuss classic arcade games with fellow enthusiasts and be sad when one is hacked to death.

My mistake... won't happen again.

Phoenix Arcade has the side art. Not sure about the CPO.

I know for a fact Phillipe from the old ArcadeRenovations.com reproduced the CPO because he borrowed my NOS overlay to do it. ;)

He also reproduced the entire metal silk-screened control panel.

I know you guys want to mourn the dead but why does one always have to ask "why" when we all know "why?"

Thats all I'm wondering.
