I have Joust questions - you have answers - school me!
Hey there Klovers - everyone having a great holiday season?
So, picked up a nice Joust and have been going through the game - have a few questions for y'all:
See attached pictures...
1. Is this lighting effect I'm experiencing normal for a Joust? When the lights are off I'm getting marquee lighting spilling onto the control panel and screen. Looks pretty sweet but the only downside is that it washes out the blacks on the monitor a bit? Reminds me of the Frogger set up where there is supposed to be a black cardboard/tag board piece to block light but many of the cabinets have lost them. So some Frogger folks are getting lots of extra light but don't realize they are missing an important piece. Is that the situation here or is this normal/correct?
2. Can someone post a photo of the light bulb holders for the 1 and 2 player start buttons? Of course my buttons have been changed out to opaque ones (new translucent ones on the way) but the bulb holders and wiring have been removed so I'm trying to figure out a way to light these (or buy the correct parts). There is another method for lighting these but it requires the longer shaft buttons and white plastic holders. I think the buttons I have coming are the shorter length ones. Advice?
3. I have a switcher in this game so right now my coin door lights are not powered. I ordered some 3 LED, #44 replacement bulbs and am going to run -5 volts DC over there to light these up. Going to add a quick disconnect to the 6.3V ac line so when I get the linear power supply up and running and can easily convert it back. Is this the best way do this?
4. Can someone tell me about the solenoids (?) that are on the coin door? This is the first game I've owned that has those. No power is going to my coin door right now (switching ps) and I can coin up with a quarter as well as reject. How do I disable and/or enable these - not sure what to do with these.
5. I am short one "fat" or "thick" leaf switch, I created a spacer which is working for now - I'll post in WTB but if anyone has one they'd like to sell let me know.
6. I also need a replacement power supply board. Jacklick also was helping me and says the part is a d8784. So, if you've got one shoot me a PM.
I know that is a lot - feel free to jump in with any info/advice you have - any help would be appreciated.
Best,
DD
