I found this at a mall and it made me feel funny in my pants.

How much does one of these typically go for? I got some numbers for the operator that I think owns the machine; I'm half tempted to call them and make an offer. Unfortunately, it's in rather rough shape -- the taillights don't look right, the motion doesn't work at all, and there's something goofy with the wheel -- my car would keep jerking off to the right. If I can actually convince them, how much should I pay?

Saw one of the Tilt arcades have this for sale at Xmas. Believe it was priced at either $195 or $295. I would not pay more than $300 for it since it is a big piece and you said it is not working properly.

I think the motors are very expensive.. If your lucky, it might have an option to disable to motors and they are just turned off.. I think some buddies of mine used to repair one at the local chuck e cheese. I can ask them what they know about it..

the steering issue is probably pretty simple and you just need to replace the steering pot.

I don't know for sure but I was under the impression that those are pretty darn rare. I have seen one. It was in a Tilt arcade in Medford, OR.

Depending on who owns it, they are either going to want a LOT or just a little. Just depends on the operator. I've seen these before, but they are uncommon. I don't know why you think the tail lights look "funny" because that is how they are supposed to look. They were going for a "Corvette Like" rear end appearance, but didn't want to have to pay anyone for it to look TOO MUCH like a Corvette...

Don't think I have ever seen one of those!

Pretty cool - Could it be they turned the motion off for liability reasons being in the mall?

Just a thought.

Cool piece!

Bumping this because I just found the official promo video, which shows this bad boy in action:

So now I know for sure it's a full-blown two-axis motion platform... That does it. I'm going to scour the ends of the earth to get myself one of these.

is that a widescreen crt??!!
if so, thats a rarity for the time....

Nope, just a standard med-res 25" tube. Which means tube-swapping is totally doable. I heard a rumor that the monitor chassis in this game was customized to fit in a smaller form factor though, so I may get stuck with a custom chassis that I can't really replace. It's worth the risk IMO.

Virtua Racing deluxe (1992) and Street Viper (1995?) had widescreen CRTs of around 32".. can't think of any others off the top of my head, and those games were built in the early days of 16:9 CRTs to begin with.
That thing just has a 25" 24khz WG in it.

Midway built 300 of those Crusin' deluxes. There are lots of problems with the motors and the wiring harnesses chafing; I haven't seen one working in years, when I see them. Crusin' isn't really a good game -- Eugene himself called them "steering wheel games". If you're looking for a driver you'll play often you'd be better off with something by Sega or Namco. The cabinet is great though, I kinda want one just for that reason.

We have the Full Motion Cruisin' USA here at the Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield, IL. We are trying to get the motion working on it now. A guy who was on the design team saw it in our window and came in saying he hadn't seen one in a long time....and wasn't surprised the motion on it wasn't working. We are working on fixing the opto issues on it so hopefully it will be up and moving again soon!

If you give up on it, let me know. Brookfield is close enough that I'd make the trip if it was a machine I really cared about, and this one counts.

That's really cool, I've never seen one of those. That's too bad about the motion issues, sounds like one of those games that will be broke down all the time. I guess the fact they break down will make it somewhat easier to buy one though, I'd love to have one.

You can always stick a 60-in-1 board in there. I believe it got the pajamma adapters.
Or motorize it for street use like that guy did with the out run deluxe...
