I bid on 2 items from a seller. got bid out at the last second on both. A couple of hours later, I get a "2nd chance" offer.

My offer expired, the item came up again, and I bid. Almost immediately, my offer was outbid to my original bid price... I retracted my bid and the item went back to zero bids... bastards!

I want the item, but I also want to pay for it what the auction deems it to be worth, not what the seller does...

Call them out dude. You know exactly what they're doing and hell yes that's completely a bannable offense.

if you REALLY want the item do one of two things:

bid what you want you actually want to pay and let him bump it up to that number.

or

snipe it.

btw this is one of the strongest arguments for ALWAYS sniping auctions.

yeah... that's my thinking too.

My other option is to ask her to give me the item for what I ACTUALY bid originally and I never deal with them again... otherwise, I report it... They have a ton of items on ebay... it would suck if they were banned... :D

I've reported many of those situations to Sleazebay. They always give me some bullshit excuse.

Can anyone recommend a sniping tool?

Vrane.com -- get 1 free snipe loaded any time. Bids within 1-3 seconds of end of auction.

Mind you, if you actually win it and he can't outbid you, then he will just refuse to sell it to you. Which will be another offense, but eBay really doesn't care -- it's all money for them.

If you got a 2nd chance offer that isn't private and at a fixed price of your highest bid with a message directly from Ebay, you didn't get an "Official" second chance offer...from Ebay.
I've taken them before, and given them and it's always worked like that, unless Ebay has gone and changed how 2nd Chance Offer works.

It was definitely an official 2nd chance.

There is a seller in Ohio that has been "selling" the same Pepsi machine to themselves for the past year. I report it every time I get bored, and they continue to list and sell it to themselves. There is a thread on here somewhere about it.

I hate snipping. Made me lose out on a good game. I bet if i was the snipper that would all change. But, Thats not going to happen. This is why I don't use ebay. It's always a pain in the butt.

My sniping tool is the countdown timer. When it hits 15 seconds (+/- depending on the connection I'm using) I bid.

As far as this Jhole you are dealing with now. Bid $1 over the starting bid. See if you get a second chance.

ken

PS: Another reason for second chance offers is if they have more than 1 of the item. If the second bid is decent, I have sold the second one on a second chance rather than gamble that I am going to get another bidding war if I relist the second one.
