Last night my girlfriend and I were playing TAF. I was on one heck of a roll. I was on ball 4 out 5, more than doubled my previous high score and had already locked in Grand Champion.

I finished up my fourth ball and had 268,XXX,XXX and it was my girlfriend's turn. We've had problems with the ball getting stuck when it goes in the "swamp" or when thing takes it and you have to shake the machine a little bit. Well this time it was being very stubborn and she started shaking it and the next thing i know..... boom it started a new game. We're not sure if maybe her hip hit the start button or if shaking it started it over. The tilt mechanism is missing so that's not it. I can't believe that tapping the start button button that far into a game would start it over.

Anyway thanks for listening to my rant.

I think there is a setting for what the start button does during a game. You should be able to set it so it won't start a new game.

If you press and hold the Start button, it starts a new game. That's probably what happened.

Disable your slam tilt. Could've been that too. Likely you don't need the slam tilt unless you have kids that tend to punch your coin door...

Yeah I was kind of thinking that too. I really need to look into it so this doesn't happen again! LOL

I'm pretty she just bumped it. On my Dirty Harry machine you have to hold it in to start a new game. She tried a test today and started a game and hit the start button when she was on ball 4 and it started a new game. So like you guys said that has to be what happened. I was soooo mad when it happened that I wanted to smash the machine into pieces. LOL

I don't think this one has a slam tilt or it's disconnected because I have never seen it say slam tilt like my slightly newer Bally/Williams games, but I'll keep it in mind and look into it.

Huh? I'm not sure I've EVER seen a game say slam tilt when that happens, lol...I'll check it on my LOTR real quick...nevermind...LOTR doesn't have a slam tilt switch on the door! WTF!

I'll try and remember to check my Dirty Harry and/or No Fear tonight, but I almost positive I have seen them say it before, but I could be wrong.

I'd fix that swamp problem. Usually it's the joint where the metal comes together in the swamp trough. I replaced mine, but there is a metal plate you can stick in there to make it prevent that from happening. I don't know who has it, but I'm sure you could find it.

Thanks for the reply! Is this the metal piece you were talking about?

What usually goes wrong with the joint in the swamp trough? Did you buy a new Bally piece for yours?

Yes, that's the one.

I was in mine a month ago and I think that the path has gaps that ball can sit in. I think this accelerates the ball speed so it won't slow down enough to get hung up. If you look at it, they did sorta miss the mark and created a place the ball could lay at that corner. Also, you might just be able to clean everything in the path and get it going. It is subject to stuff from the playfield finding it's way in there as well.

Oh. That makes sense on accelerating the ball speed. We will be working on mine this weekend and I will check the cleanliness of the trough and the ramp leading to it.

Thanks for the help!!

LOL, alright then. I still can't believe my LOTR doesn't even have a switch on the coin door for slam tilts.

Now that I have my Rollergames display working, I guess I could see if it displays a message or not..
