I gotta tell ya, this rejuvenator is the greatest tool I have ever had

rejuved 3 or 4 monitors now.

The k4900 I did today was total crap after a recap. colors were brutal, couldn't adjust it out.

rejuved that bitch (a 2nd time actually, I had previously rejuved it prior to capping it) and it's unreal now.

what a piece of equipment to have.

I love my Sencore CR7000. It saved me tons of time by telling me my tube was bad before I started changing color transistors the other day. I've used it for testing TV donor tubes a bunch also.

Definitely a great tool!

how can you guys afford these for just a hobby?

I think it cost me $40 shipped and because the glass was broken on one of the displays at arrival the seller refunded me $21

$19 shipped

if you go to ebay and look up
crt restorer and save the search
crt rejuvenator and save the search

I get 3-4 hits a day. there are plenty out there for under $60 shipped (by the time the auction ends) there are a few people trying to get $700 also, lol

Thanks for the eBay tip! I searched completed auctions, and I see that the Sencore CR70 routinely goes for less than $100. Is this a good model, or should I wait for the CR7000 to show up for a reasonable price?

I think it will be mre than adequate for your needs. However, make sure it has the adaptors you will need.

Oh, I also wondered if these work with X-Y tubes too...

Yes, the X-Y tubes (balck and white and color) can be rejuvenated if you have the right adaptor.

I am not familiar enough with the Sencore numbering scheme to tell you which ones are used with arcade monitors but if you buy a B&K the commonly used adaptors are CR6, 23, 25, 30, and 31.

I was lucky, I got about 20 adapters with mine. maybe more I gotta go count them.

I have only used the 23 so far. (k4600, k4900, g07) I hear it's the same one for my wg6100's as well.

It is. The Amplifone monitors use the 24. Most black and whites, color and raster, use the 6.

Yes you can rejuvenate XY tubes because there ARE no XY tubes.

There is just tubes.

Wether you put it in a raster monitor or a vector monitor, it's the same tubes.

There is nothing special about a vector tube.

The only difference is the yoke around the neck of the tube, but that's not involved with rejuvenating.

I'd be careful going about rejuvenating if it's not really necessary. My uncle has been in TV repairs for YEARS and always told me, you can get a couple more years out of a tube by rejuvenating, but it does shorten it's lifetime. Now, TV's are generally running more hours than collectors' arcade games, so if the tube is near dead, it's great to do it of course, but don't go rejuvenating a good working tube.

Noob question of the day. What exactly does a rejuvinator actually do? And how does it work (in other words, what is the process like)?

Level42, thanks for the info and tips.

I picked up a B&K 467 for $90 shipped just now (eBay). That's a bit on the high side, but it includes 9 adaptors. I plan to use it for tube testing, primarily.

W/ OZ's help I built a CR31 for my 19" K7000s. Mine came with the CR23 for my 25" K7K monitors. I didn't know that it worked for 4600 and 4900's also. WOOT.
