I found Heaven and I didn't have to die to get there

I just joined the forum today and I'm overwhelmed with all the great stuff here. I absolutely love this website and the forum.

I'm on old school arcade gamer (which I'm pretty sure most of you here are too) and have always been interested in collecting/building/restoring arcade games. Being in the military over the past 30 years has pretty much prevented me from pursuing my passion (moving every 2 or 3 years will do that to you). Although finding this forum has certainly rekindled the idea of collecting some of my favorites.

After a quick browse through the forums, I realized I have so much to learn. I'm an electrical engineer by education, craftsmen and computer geek by hobby and gamer by passion. I'll take any tips from the experts on how to learn more about collecting and restoring classic arcade consoles. Aside from this website, I'm sure there's others out there.

Thanks in advance to you all!

Welcome to the forum. There's a couple military KLOVers on here. I've been in the reserves for over 22 years so I don't move a lot but I travel so I can understand. I've pretty much given up on attending any gatherings until I retire.

Go EE! This is the best hobby for us.

welcome to KLOV, man.

it is customary for all new KLOV members to post 3 shirtless pics while holding a chinchilla. doing so solidifies your membership here, and will prevent mods from banning your account.

please post those pics as soon as you can. thank you.

Welcome,,,,once you overpay for first game you will be hooked.

Great hobby

Welcome aboard. With your background I bet you'll be hitting the ground running and running right past a lot of us, haha.

You need an avatar. Maybe of you holding a chinchilla?

Also, where are you located? It's good to network with locals that can help you find things.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I'm really looking forward to this new adventure. (my wife isn't!)

Where you located?

I live in Connecticut for the time being. I'll be here at least another 6 or 7 months, then who knows.

I'm not sure I can find a chinchilla this time of year. I just came from Australia, how about a kangaroo pic? :) I usually charge for shirtless pics and autographs, so that'll cost ya!

Great hobby

I'm already noticing the high price tags on things. Both my kids are in college now, so I've already done my part. Now it's my turn. It's either a Maserati or arcade consoles... I pick Ikari Warrors! hahaha.

Welcome to the forums and thank you for your service along with all the other military KLOVers.

Thanks alot Catch84! I really appreciate that.

I'll work on that avatar. I live in CT at the moment. Sadly, I'm not noticing much arcade support in the New England area, but who knows where I'll end up next.

I wholeheartedly approve of your new avatar.

And also appreciate your service. I meant to type that in my first reply.

Grinkfest is in a few weeks. Bad at geography, that's probably very far away from ya. But you could meet a gazillion of us there... And it's an awesome weekend.

25 years in the Air Force and about to leave for Japan for the next 3 years next month. Taking Tempest, DKjr, Defender, Millipede and Asteroids Deluxe with. Hope to come back with more. I need a Neo 19 mini and another Blast City.
