Has anyone found rubber bumpers to rebuild Galaga joysticks?
Part number 0017-00041-0616 - Rubber Bumper , 90 Durometer, 2req'd

Measurements I pulled from original and original metal attached in pic.

Original looks to be tapered but I will take flat for now if no one has found a true replacement.

Let me know what you may have found or if anyone has any NOS on these.

Thanks!

So I received these GM parts to attempt to use in Galaga rebuild. The size is exactly what I thought it would be. The diameter of the land is smaller and the thickness of the pad is shy by about 0.015"-0.020"
The durometer is not listed, but I can say that it is hard with a tiny bit of forgiveness as opposed to the fossilized, rock hard, dried out 40 year old ones that everyone has. I cannot compare to a NOS as I was not able to find one, but I think that these will end up being a great alternative. I just took apart my backup Galaga. bent it back to square, cleaned it up and hit everything with 4 coats of lacquer. Will let it setup over night and will finish rebuild tomorrow or the next day at which time I will be able to get a game in with these installed for a final opinion.

Overall I say they are a solid 8.5-9 out of a possible 10, if there two dimensions above were a little tighter, they would be a 10/10 for sure.

Hope this helps future Galaga joystick rebuilders.

Do you have pictures of this installed?
I will tomorrow or the next day. I did an initial install and tested for "feel" against stock panel. Felt great. Then took apart the second joystick for rebuild, sandblast, paint and will be reassembling tomorrow or next day. Will post pics when I do for sure.

FYI, there's already a thread about this, with replacements.

I did see that one, and the ones he selected BB41 Pack of 15 Rubber Button Bumpers A=1/2, B=9/16, C=1/4, D=5/16, E=3/8 don't seem to be as close to stock as the ones I found.

As promised here are pics of original and then new bumper installed in cleaned up joystick. I shot a video showing the range of motion (yes my house is a circus sideshow all day, I didn't even notice the music), it is hitting the bumper not the metal, the sound you hear is the leaf switch off by about 1/16 of an inch, I forgot to reshoot the video after adjusting.

bumper has a flat land like original, not the mushroom type that was found in another thread.

New CPO from PA is ready. I'll be rebuilding tonight, will have some real feedback on how it feels once I can put a couple million up this weekend.
Will report back again but feel like this will be perfect.

Forgot to report back, I have had more than a couple people at my store who were avid Galaga players note how nice the joystick felt on the one I did above.
So I think it is a win!
