I fixed my Stargate in only one hour of buying it.

I just wanted to post a little brag about a new game I got today. I got it from a nice guy off of CL and it was not working. He said it had lines on the screen so I thought no big deal. I took it home and did the basics of cleaning all contacts and chips. I found a plug coming off of the power supply that rested under the famous Williams battery pack when the back door is shut and someone did not change the batteries in time before acid drip... Cleaned up that Jplug and moved on. I plugged it in an no power.?.. checked all door switches and no go. no power anywhere. I checked with a meter and no power to the neutral line going into the unit. I then checked continuity from the end of my power plug and the line side was getting power but the neutral side was not. I cut off the power plug and replaced it and whoola it got power and the marquee lit up at least. The monitor took a while to warm up and get that neck glow but nothing on the screen. After looking for issues and for the last time to plug it in for the night I noticed some overlooked fuses on what I think is the sound board. Changed out those and whoola!!!!!

My first dedicated classic was a Stargate. I got it for $225 and it was working all the way. It only had 3 years of service on route and had been well kept in somebody's house after that. I should have held onto it. It was a great looking and fun playing game. The money I got from it bought me my first pin (Cyclone). Ahhhh, the memories.
