I don't think I'm going to see the new Tron movie

Greg and kerri.....I know you are tron fans. Legacy BLEW away the first Tron Movie. I was expecting a mediocre movie but instead was treated to a worthwhile film. I too think this film was better than the original. I saw this movie in 3D. I am taking my kids to see it in Imax. If I had the knowledge about this movie I would have gone straight to Imax. Without a doubt it is worth the entertainment bucks so go for Imax! Kerri, I invited you to go last sunday but you never returned my call....Bitch!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!! Time to set up my google TV!

Meh, and how many TRON machines do you own again???

Only two, and I'm getting ready to burn one :)

Troy, thanks for the insight. Maybe I will download it first to "form my own opinion".

Just seen it last night in imax 3d, was boring at some parts when they just stayed at one scene for 10 mins plus talking

Saw it yesterday in 3D. Should have seen it in regular D and, IMHO, there was nothing worth while for 3d effects.

I went in not expecting much; to be entertained for two hours was about it and thats what I got. I don't regret going at all. Visually, it was pretty cool. Parts of the film were kooky (like when the news reporters were talking about arcade games, etc...that just seemed really lame/odd and unrealistic even for the set time period).

Would have been more fun if I went dressed like the Tron Guy!

Who's with me? After Indy 4 and Star Wars 1 - 3, you'd think we'd wise up to this BS.

While it isn't quite the souless cash in that Star Wars and Indy were, you'll probably have a similar feeling after watching this movie. I wrote my thoughts about it in the Tron Sucks thread for what it's worth. Not that I think it really sucks, but I didn't want to crap on the Tron rules thread.

Skip the new one, and watch the DVD of the original one instead. The go play some video games.

Better yet, go watch that other Jeff Bridges movie out right now. It's a much more satisfying experience.

That's one thing that stuck out to me as well when I saw the premiere. In the premiere, they actually talked a LOT more about Sam and "What is Sam going to do without his father?" and made a huge deal about it, which a news story would never do.

I noticed that they toned that scene down for the official release. It was still there, but waaaaayyyy quieter!

I saw it in IMAX 3D. While I prefer the store/sentimental value the first one has for me. Legacy didn't suck. To me the visuals and Soundtrack where worth the price of admission, and it kept me entertained, which is all I could ask for. I did make My daughter watch the original with me the other day in preparation, and then again after watching it. She is 3 and seemed to enjoy it. (she loves ep4-6 of star wars, and all she wanted for Xmas was a darth vader action figure, so I know she has good taste ...)

Who's with me? After Indy 4
Hey! If you take out Tarzan Labouf and could rewrite the entire ending, Indy 4 was the bee's knees.

I've got my pitchfork ready and waiting...

whoah whoah whoah, is it in horrible structural condition or just nonworking!? If it's savable i may have interest...

Don't fret, I was just kidding. I was just alluding to the fact that this project has been taking me so long. The cabinet actually was badly water damaged, but I rebuilt the bottom like I have seen others on this forum do. I even routed my replacement pieces so it fit together like the original wood, and BTW it is solid as hell. For this project I also bought a large compressor and some paint guns, but I haven't honed my painting skills just yet. It's just sitting in the garage completely stripped of parts and paint for now. Boardset & monitor work, but power supply does not. It will be for sale when I get it done, ETA is "I don't know". But price will be reasonable, I'm not trying to make money here, just trying my hand at a full restore.

crap, so i guess it's time to delete this pic then? :d

Nah, I still think it's one of the coolest arcade picture I have. They all never worked at the same time though :( What a symphony that would be.
One of them went to High Scores arcade in Burlington after I fixed it, one went to my basement and is awaiting new art, and the last one still needs to be painted.

AMAZING!!! Let me know if you ever decide to sell ;)

I must be in the minority...

I watched Tron Legacy in 3D at the opening Thursday night midnight show. Even with an alcohol buzz/while dressed up/surrounded by fanboys and girls... the movie still sucked. In the end you heard some teenager from the back right corner yell "is that f*cking it!?!"

I figured it sucked because of the alcohol (or company) so I went to the Seattle IMAX to again try to view in 3D. Two rows behind me a family brought their lovely adopted Korean Tourettes child. Every 45-ish seconds she barked/cussed/chirped. I complained, yet the manager did not remove "the disruption" family, and assign them to the baby changing and viewing room.

Form your own opinion. Do not pay full price to see it. I'd say it's worth matinee price without theater treats ...at best.

I saw it on a Marcus UltraScreen in 3d and was absolutely BLOWN AWAY! There were two points that I literaly at slack jawed I was so impressed with the visuals. Visually it is absolutely amazing! The story is quite good. It doens't play too much on the old so a person having never seen the first could follow this one. The soundtrack was great. I also liked almost all of the acting. I was not a Bridges fan(more on that in a minute).

I saw it in 2d and well honestly it wasn't as impressive. The 3d isn't as noticed until you see it in 2d. This movie made better use of 3d then any other I had seen, with the exception of Pirannah (that was THE BEST movie of the summer and the best 3d I have seen thus far, never would have guessed it).

The third time I saw it in IMAX 3d. I was expecting the domed parabolic cinema but it was just a regular screen no different then the ultrascreen. This showing was largely ruined byt the four stereotype stoner 20 somethings that everytime Bridges said one of his Lebowski lines they I had to hear "He's such a stoner maaaaaan <forced stoner giggle>". And seeing it the third time you notice and appreciate the 3d.

The bad. Bridges doesn't play Flynn in this movie he plays Jeffrey Lebowski. Plain and simple, it is rather annoying and does distract from the movie. Fortuneately he is not the main character. GO see it. Ticket costs to me were $14.00, $9.50, and $14.00. Well double that as I had to take the girlfriend. But I think it was money wel spent.

The only people I have found thus far that didn't like it are the contrarian, everything that was original was better folks who go in with closed minds. It sounds like you have been beaten into that path...I say open your mind go see it. It is at the absolutel least visually entertaining.

I fell asleep during the movie. I could have slept much longer if it wasn't so loud. Basically, the movie is pretty mediocre. I kind of felt like the Matrix sequels- which I also fell asleep when watching!
You are not really missing anything life changing if you skip it. Don't pay the $3.50 for 3D- it adds NOTHING!
