Sure hope that 2x stays centered on the door frame does not look like you left a lot of room for error there if it decides to slide to one side or the other.

Nice idea

stair

ok is it just me,
i imagine
the door frame popping out, game and frame, down they go
or
the game getting misdirected, or crooked, and poking thru walls

Nice.

Does the winch pull it all the way up, or do you have to finish the job manually?

Marcus

It almost gets it. Enough that I can easily pull it up. Plus what you dont see is me actually down there guiding it up and pushing the button at same time.... With kids watching... so that if something happens they can laugh...

Interesting...

ok so you are behind it...

When it gets to the winch (cant go up any more) the entire pin is still at a 45 degree angle with you behind it...

Do you just shoulder it up the rest of the way? Or it sounds like maybe you manuever around it and pull it up over the threshold? What do you do, kick the winch/chair of the way?

actually, looking at the pictures, he doesnt have the winch at the top of the stairs, he has it in a doorway across from the top of the stairs, so basically when he runs out of wench hes in the middle of the (kitchen?)room

Who said kick the wench! Thats a good way to get whooped!

good catch! Didnt realize/notice the winch was in a different door...Slick setup

i am in front of the machine the whole time. I dont do it full speed LOL. nice and slow. making minor corrections as needed.

plus there is brick on the other side of the door frame. the outside door frame was installed pretty good.

That is fantastic....How about a video showing how it works....I have an extra winch sitting around so this looks like a perfect project....

I dunno, man. My wife *really* enjoyed helping me muscle the Whirlwind, Earthshaker, and Terminator 2 upstairs... 8-P

I promised she'd never help me move them again after this. We're both partially-crippled, and it took two days, two machines the first day, one the second, pulled some muscles, but they're up there, no gouges in the walls/handrail, either. Never felt like I'd lose them, either.

Funny thing was, she was below, pushing and said, before we started the first one, "I'll catch it if it starts to fall."

I explained, "Sweetie, if you hear me say, RUN, you get to the bottom of the stairs as fast as you can, around the corner, so if I drop it, at least you have a couple of wall studs between you and what will likely kill you if it falls on you."

She understood, when I put it that way. :)

What's more amazing is she's helped me move those machines from Bailey, CO, to Portland, OR, then to Austin, TX, and finally to Fort Worth. Neither of us are young, either, but determined? Yeah. Stubborn, too.

No problems doing it, but it was far from enjoyable. The aluminum handtruck was a really good purchase. Used to move them by carrying them, which amazes me, now.

Your wife deserves a thank you gift! A day at a local spa, a new fancy purse, diamond bracelet,... Something!

Keep that lady happy! You found a keeper! :D

Very nice! Wish I'd had something like this. Just struggled like hell last weekend to get the new pin up our two flights of stairs, each with a 90 degree turn. Today I just brought another one DOWN both flights of stairs solo. Not really a fun way to spend the morning.

nice set up! i was thinking about something like that. My basement is about like that and we have pins and vids. My wife and i and a hand tuck have no problem getting the pins in and out of the basement. but the vids seam to give us some static. love to see in action
