I don't get it..

Newsgroups!

Newsgroups are where I started in the hobby 16+ years ago.. Man, I sometimes miss the simple days.. That's back when a lot of people didn't have digital cameras, ha! I actually bought parts from someone via a photo sent in the mail(post office).. Remeber sending a check, or money order?? The simple days..

I do it so threads like this can be created :D

In all seriousness though, I do it to help the seller out by bumping their thread up. If I'm the 51st PM he/she gets about an item, so be it, nothing wrong with helping others potentially sell. If there's something I'm interested in, it's worth a bumped thread.

Why do people post: "PM sent" in a FS or WTB thread? The seller sees the PM.. What am I missing here?

some folks use it as a "dibs" thing but for the most part it just ensures that the poster knows of the repliers interest. Sime guys dont check thier pms 3x a day etc

back in the day i do remember some pm issues as well.. so its kind of become habit as well if that makes sense.

also, PM SENT!!! :D

I use to sell retail copies of win NT (when it was first out) to people, sight unseen, no pic, no phone number nothing they would ship a money order or check to a po box. I bet I sold 100 of these ($55 each which was good money for a 16 year old) I always shipped them out but man, now a days you try something like that!

People get irked by the littlest things in this hobby. We're a group of OCD sufferers.

It bumps the thread and helps get the gears moving. Sort of like what I just did right here. :)

Yeah,it's annoying but when someone has the gimmie gimmies they will do whatever it takes to get the item they want.
