I don't get it..

I privately send PMs when I'm interested in something. If I see someone posts "PM sent" it doesn't keep me from sending my own PM. A lot of the time, you'll see follow ups like "Still available" etc. If the seller decides to sell to me, then cool beans. If not, move on.

"PM sent" in KLOV language most likely means "I'm about to send a low ball offer" :)

I've done this before, but mostly because it seems like everyone else did it ;) One thing that would be nice though, is sellers updating their for sale posts to show what's already been sold (most do, but a few don't)

When i do it I just do it because I figure the seller might have a zillion PMs and not check them as closely as the thread. So it's like "check your PMs". I don't see it as a dibbs thing.

Ahh..

As a sometime seller.. It's a bummer when people think the item is gone. When most of the time it isn't.. I do see the point of making sure to keep your post updated though.. It's just hard to move stuff lately, and even harder when people think it's sold :(

And yes, I've found myself doing it lately too.. Heh..

some sellers browse the threads more than look at their PM's. I always send the PM first then if I feel it's necessary I may post PM sent just in case the seller is not one to instantly look to their PM's. It just serves to let them know they have a PM.

That's good reasoning, and to add a bit to that as a seller, I appreciate people doing it as it bumps my threads ;)

I'll only do it when the seller/buyer hasn't returned my PM after a while and I can see they're still logged on.
Otherwise it really serves no purpose...I've sorta wondered this myself from time to time.
When it's done on my threads I just chalk it up to a free BUMP!

I do it because if the item for sale is something I want, when I send the pm I am saying I will buy and complete the deal. (like a buy it now) This might prevent many people all sending pms after the item is already sold. maybe so everyone else won't get hopes up? To keep the seller from sending out 50 already sold replys to everyone else who pm. If I send a pm, I am going to buy the item if the seller still has it for sale at the terms listed in the post. I want it...pm sent...
and most post are usually first come, first get.

that would be nice...

Heh.. man, wish there were more people like cointech... the majority of the PMs i receive are just lowballers, dreamers, and the occasional sale.. Over the last year it seems like more people "want" stuff.. but don't follow through.. oh well.

Yeah, I hate when people commit to buy and then back out. I guess people sometimes don't stop to think about their commitment in the rush to be first in line.

I do this, too.
