Well.. my idea I had a few weeks ago became a reality today and it turned out better than I even imagined. I wanted something for my "man cave" game room that is unique and this is what I thought of. A shadowbox arcade with a graphics bezel and video inside to match.. and on your wall. Here is the quick story on how I did this. I will be making these for anyone who wants one, I dont really want to make any money as I like giving back to this community but hey if you want to donate something to me after you buy one go ahead.
The cost in materials using a digital picture frame that plays video and this size 13x17 is around $200. Plus you would have to pay for shipping. If you wanted it to fit your tablet like mine then you could always do that part of the trimming yourself.
This project is very easy and I think anyone on here could build their own. I plan on building a few larger ones with 24" lcd's instead of this tiny tablet or small picture frames. How am I going to do it? Well thats a secret. I bought shadowboxarcade.com to also show how I did this and info to buy one but right now I haven't had time to put up the website.
How did I build this one? Here we go.
First, bought myself a shadow box from Hobby Lobby. This one is 13x17.
I also bought a small sheet of styrofoam. And a styrofoam cutter (it just gets hot and cuts through it like butter).
See.. cuts like butter.
So here I have larger slots cutout for the buttons on the tablet. Just so I don't have to pull it out to turn it off or hit the buttons.
Test fitting the tablet in the shadowbox. Make sure to buy the thickest depth shadowbox, it gives you more room to mount your LCD, tablet, or digital picture frame.
Black cardboard from Hobby Lobby. Cut this to fit inside. It will be the inner bezel.
