I'm trying to figure out the name of a run and gun arcade game from the 90's. It's set on a jungle island with dinosaurs. I think the characters are dropped off by helicopter near a waterfall at the beginning. Not much to go on, but does anyone know what it might be?

I only played it once at the Mall of NH (Manchester) arcade before they went out of business, never saw the game anywhere else.

Thanks.

It wasn't Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.

I searched klov for dinosaur, prehistoric, jungle, island, and isle and couldn't find it. It seemed like a NeoGeo, PGM or similar technology game but it was in a dedicated cabinet.

It's not Time Soldiers but it was similar... more advanced hardware though and no rotary controller. The characters were real people/soldiers, nothing overly cartoonish like Joe & Mac.

I've never seen it anywhere else, so it was probably an obscure import game.

Need more info...

So, side scrolling shooter (ala Contra)? Do you remember how many buttons? How many players? Any unique weapons? And memorable bosses? Are you shooting dinosaurs, or other people?

If you hit on the right detail, someone here will probably be able to help you.

Unfortunately I don't remember much more. I only played it once and the arcade was gone next time I went there. I put the arcade location in case anyone else used to play there...

The controls were just standard stick and 2 or 3 buttons. I think it was two player simultaneous. Don't remember much else.

How bout this...what year (roughly) did you play it?

Random guess...Dyna Gear?

Strider keeps popping up in my head. but I think they fell from the sky and not in a helicopter...that and the graphics are cartoon like.

Nice username btw. I have an original drawing from Tom Waits.

I tried Prehistoric Isle 2 last night on my 100-in-1 MVS cart. I think my fuzzy memory may have merged two games... there was probably a 'new' run and gun where you were dropped off by helicopter in the jungle, and they probably had a 'new' Prehistoric Isle 2 there as well. Prehistoric Isle 2 is a side scrolling helicopter shmup with dinosaurs. The first dinosaur boss is at a large waterfall.

Thanks anyway for trying to help.

I've got a Primal Rage PCB for my supergun that my kids like, I was looking for other dinosaur games. Prehistoric Isle 2 happens to be on the 100-in-1 so that'll work for now.
