I can has CHEESEBURGER!! Woot!! Got some questions....

Picked up a BurgerTime tonight. Been casually looking for awhile. I think this one will do. I feel like I am done for the year after this (well, unless a cheap DK style cabinet comes up locally to be used as a Dr. Mario cab. *smiley*) Gonna work on making everything I have perfect now. *smiley*

I have some questions...

The monitor needs adjustment. Screen is too short, looks a little crooked. It has these odd dials for the size and hold adjustments. Just metal rings. Doesn't seem to be anyway to turn them to adjust the vertical size, etc. The monitor also was twitching a little but seemed to stop when I TOUCHED the hold ring. Didn't even turn it. Very sensitive. Not sure what monitor is in this thing.

The audio quality is NOT GOOD. Sounds very low-fi and tinny. All the sounds are there. If I turn it up, it sounds even cheaper. It just doesn't sound good at all. I have been listening to BurgerTime in my Ms. Pac cab with the 60 in 1 and now Mame. It just doesn't sound nearly as good. Sounds cheap. Could it just be the speaker?

Graphical Glitches every now and then. I occasionally see little artifacts when things are falling. Check voltage? Anything else?

Anyways, I think once I get this all adjusted and cleaned up it will be great in my little arcade. I LOVE this game. And so does my wife, which is half the reason I wanted it. *smiley*

Here's some arcade porn:

NOTE: The four image limit made me use *smiley* to convey emotion and jest. DUMB.

Right on! Very cool find, I'm jeasous!! I'd love to find a Burgertime I'd figure out a way to stuff it in my kitchen with the other 2! :p

You need to adjust the "horizontal width coil" which actually going to adjust your vertical since the monitor is tipped up on end. Buy the Bob Roberts plastic adjustment tool kit. The hor. width coil has copper windings going around it with a hex or slot baby adjustment recessed down in the middle. Don't use a metal allen wrench, it will break it. Only takes a little turn, don't over turn it!! It sounds like you might want to do a cap kit on it just because of the "jittery" that you were mentioning... And on the monitor crooked you'll want to loosen the screws that are on the white collar near the neckboard and carefully rotate the neck board the direction you need it to go. Its a little firm at first, be gentle, but make sure you got the screws loose or you could break the neck of the tube!

On your sound I'd recommend reflowing the solder joints on any header pins or interconnects, anything to do with the sound. Check the connections and make sure nothing is corroded.

On the graphics glitches check your voltages at the board. Your 5v should be no higher than 5.10 and no lower than 5.05 in most cases. Also singly removed each socketed chip and clean the legs up nicely, reseat them carefully, do ALL the chips on the board that can be removed. Make sure to get them in straight and all the legs lined up before you press the chip down firm. They also make a chip removal tool and you want to pull up as straight as possible and carefully when removing. Also clean the edge connector on the pcb, they like to burn on the ground side!

Sweet! Man, your arcade is getting more awesome on a weekly basis now. I have a feeling this won't be your last one of the year. Still 5 more months. Haha.

Yup, everytime I say this is my last one for a while the phone rings or the email box has a number next to it... :D

Should I check the voltages at the harness connection? It has a newer switching power supply.

This is all some good advice. Thank you!! Turning that neckboard sounds SCARY. I'll certainly try that, never knew that. Thanks!

I just ordered a new PCB from Ebay for $50.00. I am gonna try that out when I get it to see if it fixes some issues first. If not, I'll have a spare. :)

Damn dude, you are compiling a serious collection. Nice score. The BT cab is one of the greatest of all time.

Those adjustment pots require that you use TV adjustment tools. They can be found at Radio Shack still for about 6 bucks.

I bought a set of them! Sweet. Can I use these for the horizontal width coil?

These are the tools I have:

Which one do I use for the vertical hold, vertical size, etc.??

Hey John, the glitches you're seeing are normal for a real BT board (it's a hardware design problem). Never seen one that didn't do it. That's one easy way to tell the real thing from emulated.

Hey, Matt! That's good to know. Thanks!!!

I need one of your highscore/freeplay chips. Is it just a ROM I can burn?
