I am going to install my 60-1 board into a machine, starting from scratch. I wanted to use a PC power supply and just plug into the power socket on the board. Will a 400w ps be enough? Do I need to hook up the jamma power wired to anything or can I just not wire those?

I haven't used one of these before, and I haven't even paid attention enough to know there was a connection on the 60 in 1 board to hook up the connector from the PC power supply.

You do have to figure that the jamma harness needs to have hooked up:
ground wires
+5 wires
+12 wires
-5 wires

But if there is a connector on the board maybe it gets routed where it needs to by itself.
I am going to go pull out a 60 in 1 and look now. lol

someone who knows a bit more will chime in I am sure.

You don't need the -5 for the 48-in-1/60-in-1 boards. I'm not even sure you need the +12, as my cab is only putting out about 5V on the 12V line, and I still have sound. My cab doesn't have -5 at all, and it works just fine.

I guess I always feel better about attaching them all in case I need to test another jamma board.

Some things run off of the +12 too don't they? coin door lights, fans.

Are you SURE that connector is for a PC power supply? Just because it fits doesn't mean that's where it goes. (I speak from experience.)

If you do use a big switcher, watch your voltages. Switchers are prone to voltage droop and HF ripple if they don't have a satisfactorily large load, and the bigger the supply, the bigger the minimum load.

I'm not sure, thats why I asked :D I thought I remember seeing something when these boards first came out thats what that socket was for. I guess I'll put my switcher into the cabinet then just to be safe.

yes that white power connector is made for a pc power suplply

if u use the pc power then do not hook up any of the jamma power wires (i usually just remove them from the harness all togather )

you will also have to cut the green wire and the black wire next to it out of the 20/24 pin connector on the pc power supply and connect them togather
if you dont the pc power supply will not turn on when you power on your machine
