Well I purchased the icade board to build a multicade machine.
got the board, new harness and buttons and built up a test bench
using an arcade PS and a LCD monitor. got it all hooked up and no sound.
adjusted the pot...still no sound. had a set of computer speakers and plugged them
into the jack next to the vga port and got sound....that lasted a few weeks ...now I have nothing. sent them an email and got scolded for plugging anything into the port...
they will repair ore replace it..sent it off today.

My question to everyone with a technical background, looking at this picture (not where I purchased by the way) what would you think what connected to what....be minefull that the manual didnt describe anything except the jamma and the trackball connections.

I have always ran the speaker off the jamma harness but i figured the jack was also for audio out . I have read on this forum of people plugging speakers into the jack..At least they will repair / replace it for you.

I ran mine through powered speakers and the "naughty" jack for a while until I figured out the jamma harness. I think it's pin 11 for sound. I had to turn the volume almost off because it was so loud.

10 and L are the sound pins.

Who the hell scolded you for using the audio socket? Whomever it is doesn't know much about these things...

wont say just in case they watch the forum...of course I use my real name here so they can put 2 and 2 together but past that they have been very prompt with shipping product and I will continue to purchase from them .....not wanting to flame them in public.

always better to be nice first....untill you have to be an ass....:)

I've never used the audio from the JAMMA connector on my iCade; always have the sound running off the 3.5mm jack through 11-year-old computer speakers or through my TV's audio inputs if ever I feel like using my iCade on a TV or to do direct capture off the PCB(VGA converted to S-Video with an external VGA to S-Video/Composite converter box). The sound is much worse off the JAMMA connector than off the 3.5mm jack. It's already distorted from the 3.5mm jack, but the sound off the JAMMA connector is even more distorted for I don't know what reason(possibly an overdriven audio amplifier). I don't even think the sound off the JAMMA connector has both the left and right audio outputs since on some iCades I've seen, Gyruss seems to have a few missing sounds when the sound is taken off the JAMMA connector rather than the 3.5mm jack, which provides full Stereo sound for Gyruss.

I don't know what's up with iCades whose 3.5mm jacks fail, but I've never had such a problem on my iCade. Is it maybe because I have the newer reduced-size iCade? Or are those models also prone to failure of the 3.5mm jack?

I've always used the speakers from the JAMMA harness. I am thinking about using a computer power supply for power as I seem to have a surplus of them.

I have to agree with the poster above - at least they are going to fix it for you!
