I bought my 1st Pin, Cirqus Voltaire

I bought my 1st Pin, I pick it up in an hour!! I'm pretty f'n excited.

It's a Cirqus Voltaire, from what I've seen so far it's in really good shape except for the back box decals, some playfield decals(wow and targets) and the neon doesn't work. So I have a some work to do......I'll be ordering decals right away and starting to figure out the neon, any suggestions on troubleshooting would be awesome!

I can't wait.....just in time for the party at my place tonight :)

Welcome to the club! You've got a great machine and a really nice one for a first pin. Another friend of mine just brought home his first late-model Bally and I put together a list of my favorite part supplies with my thoughts on each. Here's a copy/paste to help you get it running 100%:

www.pinballlife.com Great prices and outstanding service with blazing fast shipping. Super easy online ordering. I wish he had a bigger inventory.
www.littleshopofgames.com Almost as good as pinballlife but even smaller inventory
http://mad-amusements.com Good guy and decent selection. Paypal based shopping and always refunds shipping charges to actual amount.
www.bayareaamusements.com Better selection and ok prices.
www.marcospecialties.com Higher prices and ridiculous shipping charges but the biggest selection around.

www.greatplainselectronics.com The absolute king of board components and shipping charges that are simply trivial.

Other that are around that I check if none of the above have what I need:

Excellent machine, is one of my favorites.
Make sure you install the 2.0 homerom if it isn't in already, makes a lot of difference in gameplay !

Wow, an "A" title game for your first pin? I own a CV. It's a great game. If you do not have the 2.0 roms you need to upgrade.

Download the manual off www.ipdb.org if you don't have one. Also, look at that section on www.pinrepair.com
Thanks, it did come with the manuals and I'm going to check out pinrepair right now.
Nice choice for a first pin...
Thanks! I'm pretty excited.

Thanks for the links and comments, that helps!

Yeah I read that and ordered one a couple days ago before I even had the machine.
Rookie mistake. Never post about a pickup before you have it in your possession. (but congrats on the game)
Yeah I was a little nervous about post before hand, lol.

lol, I didn't plan to buy an A list title at first, it just sort of happened......I couldn't refuse the deal!

Here are some crappy iphone pics, I had to get the oiler game in one pic ;) and the partially lit neon.

Nice pickup man. Looks pretty good from those pictures. I was even going to comment on what are the chances the Oilers game would be on in someone's pics from Edmonton.

nice pickup. You do know its also missing those purple plastic things that go on the head.. They might be optional, but you should ask about them..

Nice!!!

Nice Pickup!!! CV is the best pin to convert to LEDS check it out on youtube.

It's a hard game to find cheap. I got mine about 6 years ago and paid $2200 for it. The price has gone up since I got mine. I usually see them sell for $3500-$4500 now.

Nice game--you'll be spoiled for your 2nd pin now! The purple scrolls are optional and were never sold with the new pins. I would NOT use LEDs in this game--it's very colorful already and LEDs would be overkill. But, I did add some colored bulbs to mine (under the Marvel inserts, etc.). This is the way to go for this game, not LEDs. And the game's designer, John P, agrees with me. :)

Agreed....someone had put a full LED kit in my CV before I got it....and it was WAY too bright. It seriously gave me a headache after playing it. I yanked them all out, and put in good ole light bulbs. They look way better, such a warmer glow. The LED's are are just way too bright in my opinion, especially when people use them for the general illumination.

I have mixed feelings myself on LEDs and think I would only use color matched ones on inserts only as they make them "pop" a bit more then the traditional bulbs. For now I just replaced a bunch of burned bulbs on my machine with traditional ones since they were so cheap and maybe in the future. I know certain ones that are harder to get to it will be worth while to replace with LED so it will last longer.

Nice cabinet and there was one locally here in my area selling for $4000cdn obo. If I only had the space oh and the money too it could have happened :) I only have room for 2 real machines in my game room so have to go by the one in one out rule till I move into a bigger house.

Thanks guys!

I asked about the scrolls when I picked it up, they didn't even know what I was talking about, I had to show them a pic, they said they must have never got them when it was new.

I'm thinking I won't do the led swap, yet anyways......I'll check out some of the vids and decide later. I want to get this neon tube issue dealt with first.

I picked it up for a really fair price, but it's got some issues to take care of :)

Yeah your probably right I am spoiled for my second pin, lol.........I'm thinking I'd like to find a White Water.........
