Thanks Mike Doyle and all involved with getting that one on the latest multi kit. That intermission is killer. At first I thought, "It's just like regular Qbert, who cares." Then I actually got to the intermissions. The straw, the sound effect for sucking, the 80's style can, awesome. I am shocked how much that little cut scene added to the nostalgia.

I have been running mellow yellow roms for a while now. I always laugh when QB farts after drinking some soda. Well maybe its a burp...who knows for sure.

Yeah that is classic too. That deep warpy, whooshing sound as he is downing the can just rocks.

Deadly, you accidentally put an 'h' in your thoughts.

Sucking = mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I change my mind too much - it's the woman aspect of me that comes out all too often.

I don't care how sucking sounds - it'd mean the same if I was deaf lol

BTW - I plan on getting Doyles kit or Jroks .... got a Q*bert lined up so it's nice to know you like the kit. Was it cowgills kit you had that was screwwing up? REPHRESH my memory

No it is the same kit. Still powers up with frozen sounds almost every time. One swift open and close of the coin door and it starts up fine.

Mine does that same thing. Its every other time it will start with "im turned on" otherwise it does nothing. Power it off then right back on and it works. I dont think this is the kits fault, I think its just flaky qbert.

Yep, I have just learned to live with it. If someone came up with a good wiring map to eliminate the filterboard, I think we'd all be in the Gleeful Gondola to Happytown.

Do they still make Mello Yello? I was too young to remember it. Was it a more citrusy Mountain Dew?

Yep. I don't like the soda as much as Dew, but the can brings back memories, as Coke marketed the shit out of it in the 80's.

This post reminds me of one of my favorite 80's movies (okay, it was released in 1990 but they filmed it in the 80's)

I removed my filterboard - I just removed the pins from an extra filter board and made the plugs plug together - no big deal.
If thats what your referring to at least.

I know this sounds insignificant, but have you tried powering it on and off with the switch on the top of the machine? Mine was had weird power on issues until I started using that switch instead of the door.

I do power it on with the switch, get frozen sounds "ahrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr', then I swiftly open and close the coindoor which in turn trips the interlock, thus quickly cutting power and powering it back up, then it finally says "I'm Turned On"

Thanks for the kind words Phet, on the same project is where I discovered 7-Eleven Q*bert, and it shares many of the same code as Mello Yello.

There was some restoration work on the ROMs for 7-Eleven since they were not running properly, the flat shape of the lid on the Mello Yello can was carried over to the 7-Eleven Slurpee in error, so that was edited to restore the dome shape to the Slurpee.

Here's the title screen on my bench the day after the discovery:
