Game is about done, Complete gut job, painted inside and out And everthing cleaned and painted , Wireharness,s Cleaned, Power block painted,Coin Door refinished the Whole Nine Yrds. Even new screws, Fresh side art, New Tracball assy and buttons from Dave.
But the C/P is not bad at all but not perfect,
I can take the C/P to work and fix it , And sand and spot in the bad spots and clearcoat the whole thing. But it will not have the texture to it. Looks like a day job. Or Just Chuck a overlay on it, Which I have. And call it a Day.
Unfortunatly, I will be Selling It Also.
Some Input?
Jacob

that's a pretty nice one. I would either say fix the problem spots or leave as is. I wouldn't trow a cpo over that nice original art.

+1. Tape off the art and fix it up then you can sell the overlay you have too to someone with a beat one.

What about using a matte clear and giving it just a fine coat. Even if you are selling it, I would just fix the bad spots.

Mask off the good areas, and lightly respray the black with some quality satin spray. Then coat the whole thing lightly with a satin clear to hide the differences in the black.

That CP is unusually nice for an original, I would really try to fix it up. The repro overlay looks good, but it's a lot different from the original as far as the texture, and also mine (arcadeshop) cracked slightly at the bends after being installed for only a month!

I just spent the morning matching the paint it is a gray, brown, black. Took me forever.
I am spotting it in right now, took a while tapeing it all out. I was pleasantly suprised to find it was clearcoated so I was able to sand out the yellow cig. burn marks without getting down to the different colors. I hope to have her done today but I have some other colors to touch up it might be tomorrow. I have a idea on how to match the cleared texture hoping for the best.

Just Finished

Pretty Pleased with the results for a rush job. Texture is pretty close also.

Actually that is the origional texture on most of the top. On the face which i stripped and where it was origionally rusty on the top right I used a clear heavy texture chipguard and it matched up pretty nice before I cleared it.

I see. Well i give you props! I went to an autobody school for two years and became a certified PPG painter and i still suck at clear coating. I either run it or give it orange peel, lol.

That is far more texture and gloss than the original finish, but it still looks great and IMO is preferable to the overlay. Looks like it hid the difference in black well too. Nice job!! I might have to make a similar upgrade to my MC panel some day if I can find a pretty nice one to replace my overlayed version.
