...A decent monitor for Tempest usually run? There is an empty Tempest cabinet available on craigslist for $10, but I dont want to put myself in a money pit.

If it's an empty cab expect to pay more in parts to piece one together than it would cost to buy a complete working one.

Much as I LOVE my Tempest and like to bring games back from the dead, it may be cheaper to buy one complete. A WG6100 will run you about $300 in working condition. Tempest boards are about $125 in working condition. Then there's the Marquee ($40), harness ($50), CP($25), Spinner ($40), start buttons ($25), AR board ($10), and the power block ($25). None of those prices include shipping.

That said, I have a bare, unhacked Tempest Control panel with overlay (original) you can have for shipping only. My little contribution. If you can get enough guys to donate items, you may be able to do it for a reasonable price. -Malcolm

Tempest.

I will donate a marquee for the cost of shipping. I will have to have money for the rest of the parts you will need. PM me if interested.

Yeah, even if someone gives you an empty Tempest cab for free you are looking at a major money pit if you have no other parts to start with. If you have the space, it might be worth picking it up though; you never know when you might find a complete Tempest in a trashy/water damaged cab. It doesn't hurt to have a solid cab in the wings.

I am getting rid of the cab because I found a complete one pretty cheap. Anyone have any more cheap marquees? The one on my new cab is missing the little piece over the grill.

Drew, if you can pick it up today, you can have it. I need the space pretty bad. I can't give the cp though. I traded a DK Jr board for this cab, so I need to at least sell the cp to get some of my investment back.

Edit: If you want a Tempest, putting this cab in the garage will help you along. I got this planning to piece it together over a couple of years. I was playing Tempest within a month. It might be fun to piece one together as cheap parts come up though. Patience is not one of my virtues. :)
