I ain't afraid of no ghosts! My Pac-Man Multi restore

It doesn't look like you stopped at the belt buckle either. I see two tron helmets above the TRON. Do you wear them to the office?

Nah, just when I ride the short bus ;) I'm thinking of making my best friend wear one with me to the Legacy premier. We've been best friends for 30 years, and Tron was the first movie we saw together during our first sleepover. I probably wouldn't even have to ask him to do it!

And check out this photo my dad just found:

1st day of 2nd grade. How do you like that belt buckle! ;D

Thought it was appropriate for the thread...

That cat looks huge!

That cat looks huge!

Funny thing about that cat...aptly named Blackie. He was a stray that found us...awesome cat...about 20 lbs. Unfortunately got hit in the road 3 years later...or so I thought. Found out from my mom 20 years and 2 glasses of Chardonnay later at Thanksgiving that my dad backed the car over him. They never told me and you should have seen the look on my dad's face...he actually started tearing up because they never told me and he felt so guilty. I still can't believe that they kept that secret after all of those years.

Oh yeah...and thanks again...and again ;)

I actually have an adapter...bought it and was ready to go. However, I would've had to desolder all of the leaf switches, and still solder on wires for the 3 buttons...not to mention crimp on a bunch of connectors. In the end, I just figured it was too much work and too much for me to mess up.

I was really glad to finally see this thread. Congrats Derek on an excellent job. You have another perfectly restored game in your awesome collection.

I had many of the same issues you ran into. The stencils were great; perfectly detailed and very well made, but they have tons of tiny pieces that in some cases would stay on the backing or front-cover piece. I had to slowly peel the cover pieces straight down too, used a razor blade to remove small pieces, dealt with small areas of paint lifting, touch ups, etc...

I also planned to use the original harness + and adapter, and ended up swapping to the AS harness. I was really glad I did; it's really well put together and labeled so that installing with other parts from AS is super easy.

I have to admit...after using the Ultimarc stick for several months now, the "click-click-click" sound and feel of the stick bothers me. I've actually had it completely apart to see if I could make any improvements. Something about the fact that the magnet centers the stick feels odd. Plus, the restrictor is configured in such a way that moving up/down/left/right is a slightly longer distance in 4 way (when the restrictor is the shape of a diamond) than eight way (restrictor the shape of a square). I'd love to get some sort of solution that uses leaf style switches, but still alows proper 4 & 8 way play.

Anyway, I'm glad I could help out a bit with my previous posts. I got much of the info on my project from the folks here who did Pac restos and multi-jammas before me. I read the entire post on Sypridon's resto at byoac a bunch of times. This project involves a ridiculous amount of work and cost, but it all adds to the personal value and satisfaction each time you look at the game. Beautiful job.

P.S. WHERE is the 720 in your lineup pictures!?!?!?!?

It's there...honest!

It's right in the middle of everything...actually it's a tough call between that and Tron for my favorite. I'm a baby though...I have everything set on the easiest settings so I can play longer! One of my biggest problems is my jump leaf switch...I don't think it registers very well, so I think I need to switch it out with one of my right side ones to see if that improves things. I just wish my screen didn't have that much burn in it...
