Hypothetically...how important are Tron rom revisions?

Now, I'm looking for the major differences in the following Tron roms....
6/15
6/17
6/25
5/10 if anyone knows this set....

I fully understand that they're not compatible with each other.... can't use the CPU board of one set with the sound of another....

But, who knows the gameplay differences? Can't seem to use my Google search fu properly.... ;)

Those ROM revisions are only for the SCPU board. I've had about 10 TRON sets and have only ever seen one dated version of the VidGen ROMs (5/10/82, 2x) [most are undated] and two dated sound ROM versions (5/10/82 and 6/25/82, 1x ea) [again most have been undated]. I believe any SCPU ROM version will play with either, it's just that the SCPU ROMs are not interchangeable between versions.

All this said, I have not verified the actual ROM contents, only going by the date revision stamped/written on the ROM labels. They may or may not be different and those VidGen and sound ROMs that are undated could be different versions. I've also never compared the sound and VidGen ROMs for the circulating dumps.

As for actual gameplay differences, the only differences I am aware of is on the first level of the gridbugs screen, the counter starts @ 1000 and on the first couple of light cycle and tank screens the number of enemies and their patterns are different for the 5/10 and 6/15 sets compared to the 6/17 and 6/25 sets.

Do I see a Tron multi board coming soon...

I wonder what that would be like.

:D
