Williams Hyperball Pinball Game

$250 Or Best Offer

Game being sold as is. Would sell it fixed, but price would be higher.

Currently the Upper GI is not working and the shooter is not firing.
Game makes the noise when shooting but just stopped about 2 weeks ago.
Everything else in working order.

Cabinet and glass are in good shape.

Is this worth it?

Very fun game; cool sound, challenging gameplay, and it's fun firing an unending barrage of balls. I think that price could be reasonable. For comparison I'd sell mine for a little more although it sounds like mine is in significantly better condition.

Unless it's working 100% the game is unplayable. You'll get frustrated if a lamp is broken and you don't know what to shoot for, or a switch is broken and you don't get credit for a difficult shot, or the ball feeder jams in the middle of a decent game. I stripped mine to the bare wood, cleaned all black dust, polished all surfaces, cleaned and repaired lamp sockets, etc. It took several weeks but there was no other choice.

I've seen them fully working for $250 on several occasions. If it's perfect cosmetically, it's an ok price, but if it's in average cosmetic condition I'll bet they'd go lower.

The shooter problem is probably on the power switching board, and could just be a fuse, or could be a bit more work. The manual details the common reasons for it not working. check the actual shooter tip to make sure it's not badly mushroomed. There are ways to address this, but something you can point out to bring down the price justifiably.

The upper GI is likely relatively simple to address.

Make sure the screw drive motor is working, and sounds like it's working smoothly.

Make sure the various swinging targets up at the top of the playfield all work; the optos can be a pain to find.

Note that the driver board in this game is unique to Hyperball, but is similar to the driver board used in System 3-7 games. Sounds like the game's booting without issue, which is good.

Otherwise, it's a fun game to have as part of a larger collection - good for the occasional diversion. A fresh batch of balls can be had via eBay, and make sure to grab the latest ROM's from IPDB, and follow the suggestions posted online for making the settings more player-friendly.

I too have seen this on CL for days and think its worth it. I'd go get it if I could, so why don't you!

Of course I say this site unseen and do not know anything about repairing this game, but I do repair my own games.

Don't forget though, it's a very, very, loud game!

hyperballs pcbs are usually always fried...make sure you check all that out...
you may be in for more than you bargain for on that machines..
ive checked out 2 now, both non working 1 for $200
and 1 for $125
passed on both after pricing it to refurb...
the pin sells for $400-500 in really nice shape fully working..
so consider that for future refererance,
but if u plan on keeping it forever. then restore away...
but you may not get what u put into it later on..
i see more of these pins non working than working
never saw a working 1 for more than 500...

They seem to move pretty quick at $500 in good working/cosmetic condition.
$250 non working is not bad, but not great. I would say probably about what it is worth.

There was a real nice one in Buffalo that partial worked that sold for $200.

The game itself was spotless...

A friend bought it and hasn't looked at it yet.

Hyperball

I am thinking on passing, been watching it on youtube. Seems very loud though it does look cool. Not sure I want that for a project

We shall see

Thanks for the inputs :)
