HYPER SPIN Pre-Programmed Hard Drive Brand new!

Considering the hdd is about 100 dollars by itself its not a bad deal. Good price considering the time and effort to setup hyperspin.

100 bucks is decent. I pick up hdd for less then that. I agree that charging for the roms is bs. I would just buy a hdd, d/l the roms and set the stuff up yourself rather then pay high amounts of cash, but to each there own.

^----- I agree that is why it was worth the $300 for me because setting all of that up would take a very long time... TIME IS MONEY! :) Wish I had the time to actually build it.

I think what Bryan meant was that it seems illegal for someone to collect all these emulators and roms onto a hard drive and sell it as a product like that website does. I'm not judging and whatever guys choose to do as far as using emulators, that's their business.

Though as others have said, it takes days or even weeks to setup that many emulators. For me, I only have maybe 200 MAME roms that I setup on Hyperspin and it took me a good week on and off. And that's just one emulator.

Yeah it does take a long time. I wish you lived close to me, I would spot you 40 just to back up your hdd to 1 of mine. Get a couple of people to do that and you would make your money back in a heart beat.

Damn, I should sell my hyperspin HD. I can run off clones of it pretty fast. I know it's not ethically right though.. oh well, just a thought.

I think that's what Bryan was talking about.

I believe there have been individuals in the past (not sure if they were KLOVers) that have been prosecuted/fined for making and selling clones of MAME and/or Multigame setups. I think there was a thread a while back about it.

Not saying Gush is wrong in selling the one he purchased, but it's questionable that websites like that sell hard drive setups for huge profit at the expense of Hyperspin and MAME developers. But I'm not a legal expert so maybe there's a loophole I don't know about.

IF I were to share my setup with a friend, I definitely wouldn't charge them for it.

I was only kidding.. The thought crossed my mind but I'm pretty sure that it's illegal to do that. Also it would of made things alot easier for me if I purchased a drive but then again, there is something to be said about doing it yourself. I have all the American Laser Gun games on mine and he does not.. I also built every theme for the American Laser set as well so if anyone is using those themes as they are the only themes available for the American Laser games, then you can thank me for my free hard work as I shared them all with the hyperspin development team.. :)

That's cool. Yeah, it seems most themes on HS are for MAME. If I had the skills, I would definitely try to build themes for my favorite NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. games. There aren't too many on the HS download section.
