Hurricane Ida coming my way...Which arcades will I sacrifice?

9-5-21 : Today I replaced the shingles that were penetrated and caused the leak...the before pic with white caulking is shower caulk..its all i had on hand in the heat of the battle.....the after pic where you see the black roof sealent lines were just some shingle tabs that had tears in them that did not justify the shingle to be replaced...and they arent as bad as it looks...i went overboard with my "welding" haha. I also sprayed them with flex seal.

Then i went to my moms house and seal any nail head that was exposed...she lost about 12 shingles randomly on her roof...nothing drastic.

I am uploading a 4 minute video of the main road to my house showing the power line damage laying in the street. Its taking a while to load to youtube from my phone. I will post it later...i also have an 18 minute video of my country place i will load once i get wifi back.

This is the tree that caused all my misery..got a quote today to have it removed, stump, roots and all, $3,700..(3,200 to bring it to a stump, another ,500 to grind it down and remove roots....they will haul it all off too)....im going to get a few more quotes but inwas expecting between 3 and 4 grand to get it removed.....also a pic of the ceiling stain it caused.

Im thinking i can scrape off the ceiling texture, reapply new texture, prime and paint...it is all dry. I dont see it requiring ceiling sheet rock removal.

Unless it's unstable, I might wait a few months, when the arborists are lean on jobs to do. Right now I'm sure it's a sellers market. Might save a few hundred.

Here is a 4 minute video of the main road, Williams Blvd, to my house...down power poles in the street.

I was glad to see that most trees look okay and most roofs and businesses look okay too.

Glad to hear that you're getting power back to your town; it sounds like they're making progress getting things back to normal and you probably won't be too far behind.

Hang in there, man.

Try Kilz - the oil based version - leave the stucco alone.

Wait a few months. If the water hit a seam line, it may crack and you'll need to get it touched up.

You have at least 6 to 10 poles in that stretch that have snapped and need to be replaced. The lines are dead, or you'd have a hell of a light show on the ground. Those look like 34 kv lines (which are particularly bright when they touch down).

Damn... I had a fruitless pear tree removed (about 1/3 the size of that bad boy) for a grand total of $595... including stump grinding and they even dropped a new tree (which I had on site) in the hole for me.

It took the crew a total of about an hour and a half to do the whole damn thing.

Last year we had two large Elm trees taken down to the stump, $1,800 total.
$1,000 for the larger one, $800 for the smaller one. The larger tree was similar in size to yours. But they were near the alley instead of close to the house. One of the companies did quote over $3,000 though, so we got a few more estimates.

MkII,MK3,WrestleMania,GoldenAxe Revenge,Spiderman,Turtles In Time,DK,KI2, and Circus Voltaire completely destroyed. I had them stored in a friends basement in Queens. Two or three mkii pcb's floated up and are seemingly salvagable and without corrosion. I'm only upset about MK3 because it was HUO and I'll never find another like that anywhere.

I will load that 17 minute of my country place sometime this week and then that can be the end of the thread i guess.

Congrats! You're well through the worst of it now!

Think of it this way...

...at the end of the day, it was someone who REPLIED in this thread who had the worst of luck.

I feel worst for him.
