Welp, the damage is done and the cleanup is beginning.

Unfortunately, I was home because my truck decided to break down today. Does the fun ever end?

So instead of pouting, I started tearing out the flooring in the basement -

The only fun thing is making it like I found a warehouse raid, LOL:

Ahhh man those are TOTALLY trashed..I'll come up and help you by hauling them off free of charge. ;)

Man I would offer to lend a hand and help you out but you're an hour north of me so I probably couldn't get to you until the weekend anyway :(

This is my biggest fear! Looks like a pain ripping up the floor, but you'll be up and running again in no time!

Any damage to the cabs? Hope not!

They took a small about of water at the bottoms, but seem to be okay. I have not plugged anything in at this point though.

LOL, um, thanks? Be here by 5:00 or don't show up at all ;)

Thanks, it is appreciated. It will take me a few days of work to get everything ripped out. Then we need to decide what to do from there. All the water actually seems to be between the pergo and the undelayment. That was something I did not expect.

My wife has the same table you have in the first picture. It is in her sewing room.

LOL, yeah, it was in my aunt's sewing room too, before she downsized and asked if we wanted it :) It is a handy table!

Yes, thank you :) Fire is my biggest fear, but this is becoming a very close second :(

Glad to hear there wasn't too much damage. Did that Qix suck up any water? My newly restored Elevator Action was wrapped with shrink wrap and a tarp, and then more shrink wrap and still managed to suck up one corner with water whilst sitting on a trailer for about 8 hours in a very mild rain/mist. Makes me want to redo it again but build from the ground up out of plywood instead of that fabulous Taito cardboard. I'll break up the old sides and use them instead of a sham wow.

Congrats on staying positive. I'm really sorry to hear that you were so hard-hit by the storm. I'm about 2 hours southwest of you, but if a KLOV-inspired "rebuild event" can help things out, just let me know. I'd be happy to make the trip.

hopefully you get everything straightened out.. I took this picture right after a Irene cleared.. A tree fell down and hit my neighbors fence and roof. Oh yeah and had another tree ruin his mail box and slice all of his power lines. Luckily we just had a large tree limb resting on power lines. I heard NJ got hit pretty bad.

Sorry to see the mess Chris. I've been there, there's no feeling more unsettling. Just keep a positive attitude and soon you'll have it all cleaned up and ready to put back together....

Man... whatta bummer. Good luck in the cleanup and deciding on what to try next down there. Basement are great... until... they aren't. :(

Hang in there. :beerchug:

Anyone wanna help on Saturday?

Well damn this is a SLOW process :(

Looks like Saturday I will be doing most of the tear out. I have a dumpster, started the floors already. I have alot of stuff down there :(

Anyone wanna come over Saturday to help? I don't have alot of money, but I have beer!

Seriously. If you're around, and want to come over, PM me. I will be working down there from like 10-4 or something, at least that is the plan now.

If we get enough done we can set everything back up and play some games :)

PM me if you're around so I can work out the details ro cancel if need be.

Thanks!
Chris

Wow, this exact thing is my biggest fear regarding having machines in my basement. I've had close calls and run-ins with torrential rain that overwhelmed the sump pump and I had to shop-vac the water out of the sump hole before it overflowed and got into the basement. But, nothing like Irene. Good luck with your cleanup, and good job on saving your collection!

I totally feel for the people who lost a good portion of their belongings and/or everything to the flooding.
