Hurricane Aftermath

Sorry to hear about the damage. But don't part out as if its just bottoms, that's usually real wood and can take it. Just dry, clean and disinfect. Hopefully all will be well. If not, you can replace the damaged wood. I know one cab of yours can take it. hard to mess up a duramold.

I guess the only plus you can take from this is now you know pretty much worse case scenario for your home(Assuming your close to what got hit the hardest) Looks like if you could have raised your games 2" they would have made it through this. So a small pile of 4x4" to lift them could be handy.

Sucks man. It's good your family is safe. In the end, these are just games.

i didnt have enough time to raise them up. it all happened so fast...

Man I'm so sorry that has happened. Nobody deserves this tragedy. I hope you can get them dried out enough to save them. Hang in there. I'm praying for you and your family.

there is a possibility i may change my path and sell off most of the collection.. i love the games but it might better to face reality sooner than later. if no miracles happen by the end of the year, ill probably start selling.

That is awful to see, a true nightmare. I'm so sorry man. Thankfully you and your family are ok. The games can be fixed. My Ms Pac had the bottom rebuilt due to water damage. She's as good as new now.

While I understand why you said this, don't. You should be able to restore the games, and let's be honest.... this level of storm hasn't hit Texas since weather records have been kept. There's a good likelihood that you won't get hit with something like this again in your lifetime.

I, too, am sorry this happened to you... but if you look at how bad the storm was, and how bad others were hit, (again, being honest) many people fared far worse than you did. What I'm trying to say, is stay positive! It looks bad, and yeah, in some ways it is..... but it could have been much, much worse.

Remember our fellow KLOV'r who went through a similar storm a year or two ago? The one that came up the East Coast? He stacked his games on their sides, and even that wasn't enough to prevent damage to everything. I'm not trying to diminish what's happened to you, far from it. But you CAN recover without losing your entire collection. That's a positive, and you should focus on that. The rest of your home can be repaired as well. It will take time, and yeah, it may look overwhelming at times.... but you can do it! We not only have faith in you, but (I'm sure) there are people on here who will help you in whatever way they can. If I weren't so strapped right now, I would most definitely help out in some way. Hell, if I have any spare parts you could use(I admit I don't have much), you're welcome to them.

Sell'em Ronald and then go buy a PS4 and a PSVR and a fat sack and chill with a wad of cash in your pocket.

After reading about this, I can't stop thinking about this post.
My heart goes out to you brother.
Hopefully you all get a long run sunshine and dry days.
Really a bunk situation.

Try earthquakes... zero warning... 😩

Yup... exactly why I moved out of Cali years ago.

A friend if mine is actually one of the people who monitors the fault line. Hang out with him for a few minutes and you will want to move also.

i just experienced my first loss due to harvey. i dont have
flood insurance but did apply for fema yesterday. the house was spared except
for having water underneath. i heard water bubbling under house and shed at the worst time of the flood. pretty much everything got soaked on the bottom. im not a man to ask for donations but im at a cross roads on this. not sure what to do or think. i do understand its pretty much every man for himself. what has been others previous experiences? rebuild or sell off parts? do mircales happen at this point? i was hoping to have a museum at some point but
reality (and my worst dreams) has set in.....

Sorry for your loses..

We are in a flood/ hurricane part of Florida and I can tell you for a fact that I will be running for the hills next time one is even forecasted anywhere near me.

Sucks that in some parts of Texas they didnt even advise people to evacuate.

Try earthquakes... zero warning...

Hey who's talking to you California?! :D

At least with an earthquake you can build a fortress ahead of time around the games. That would be cool to have them on a floating platform, would add to the difficulty of some games.

Your correct about we had a day or so warning the problem is we got a years worth of rainfall in 3-4 days. Nobody could have predicted what wss going to happen with that much water. Places that have never flooded, and I'm talking street flooding too, flooded. Freeways that were built well above flood grade several feet underwater.

One problem was the storm went back into the gulf before heading to us. With that it pushed the storm surge into the bay as it came in, the same bay everything drains to now nothing could drain the 25+ inches of rain we already had then we got another 25+ inches. Hence shit that has never flooded was now underwater.

Out where i live (been out here since mid 80's) I've seen things flood that if 2 weeks ago you'd told me they'd flood I'd called you crazy.

With hurricanes you have days notice, not minutes like a tornado.

Sorry to hear about the games.

That's true you do but most hurricanes you get some high winds and some rain but usually not a lot of flooding unless you're in a flood prone area. I had damage from hurricane Ike a few years ago (half of my roof flew off) and that caused some damage to the 2nd story but I was prepared with tarps etc to minimize the damage. This was a different beast all together, we expected rain but not in this magnitude. We had over 20 trillion gallons of water fall down on us if I read it correctly. That's some end of days Noah' s ark kinda shit. No way to prepare for that.
