So, I picked up a nice Centipede Mini last night and the owner said he had it for about 8 years. Before that he said he bought from a family who had since the 80's. Wondering if it is HUO? Coin reader reads: 003129?

No way to tell unless it has the original papers and receipt. But really, if it has that low of plays, looks great, has no lock down bar installed, and plays fine... does it really matter?

I've seen some HUO that's pretty bad off because the owners have let them go to hell, versus some routed games that were well maintained and looked/played a whole lot better.

I finally figured out from this thread that HUO means home use only (well I'm assuming). Kinda sad I guess I'm no longer a noob. :-(

Yea, don't feel too bad - I've got a history of mis-understanding acronyms. For several months after I first heard of FPS games (in the context of Doom-type games), I thought they were 'frames per second' games because that's all the FPS junkies seemed to go on about...

pretty cool, however i would probably save the cab to put a jamma game in, and then try to find one of the 2600 store kiosks.

crap. totally meant this response for another thread.

i'd say that would be HUO on the coin counter. i put quarters in my games rather than having them on freeplay, and at 3000 plays that's roughly one play every three days.

I was just curious based on the play time more than anything? Seems like it hasn't been played much. It does have a lock-down bar though so I guess it probably was on location at some point. I just have never had a HUO machine and thought it may be one. Who knows :)

Would you rather own a HUO game or a correctly restored one?

I haven't really seen a HUO one in person but I really am more proud of the game I restored.:)

could have been in free play. I had a space duel with 999xx credits on it. It was always in free play at a rehab center until it broke..

Your probably operated a bit and then went to a home or broke really early and sat somewhere. Overlay wear will tell the story..

Great score, I had my eye on that one too, but you beat me to it =) Don't forget, I'm just a PM away if you ever get bored of it (hint, hint). Another one popped up on CL before that and it was pretty beat to hell, holes drilled everywhere, larger monitor shoved in, security locks everywhere.

Enjoy! I love those Centipede cabarets,
~Curtis
