Just picked up a Sinistar. After I loaded it up, the guy told me that his parents purchased the game brand new and it's been in their basement ever since. I have no reason not to believe him as it shows no signs of typical arcade wear and it wasn't a selling point as he didn't even mention it until after the deal was done. In the end, I really don't care if it was HUO or not. I'm just happy to have the game.

Cell phone pics for now

Unfortunately, as we all know HUO does mean mint condition. The good news is the side art is in great shape (I was actually hoping it would be bad as that would make the decision to re-stencil it easier to do). The cab is complete and came with all the original manuals that look like they were never touched

Marquee and bezel are absolutely mint

The bad:
Game is not working, but not a big issue as it's most likely a power supply problem which is an easy fix (or at least should be)
His father was a smoker, so there are two small cigarette burns on the control panel, but no where near what I have on the Robotron I'm currently restoring.

The worse:
It was keep in a damp basement for years and did suffer some water damage on the bottom. It's much worse on one side compared to the other.

I can fix this but I'll have to decide if I mask off the artwork and repaint the black or strip it down and do a full stencil paint job

Overall very happy with the pickup

you said elsewhere you was going to pickup another williams,i know you is doing a robotron.

enjoy your winter is all i can say and i think cograts are in order for the arrival of your first child.
;)

Decent cab but I don't think it's HUO. Alot of people say they got it new but only really meaning they bought it second hand.

You should be happy with that, it's very nice. When you do fix the water damaged side, just paint the bottom strip. That original side art is way too nice to cover up. No one will ever notice if the bottom 12" is slightly darker, less shiny, or whatever.

Definitely possible. And I don't want to create a debate on if it is or isn't as it doesn't matter.

I dont wanna start a debate either but a thing to point out is look at the cloin slots the black paint is worn off and showing white. Im really doubting a home use game had this much use to rub the paint off and even so if it was set on free play

I questioned that when I was loading the game. He said his family used it as a bank. Each month they would pull out the quarters and buy something for the family. Could have been quick thinking on his part or real

While the water damage is a pain, it is better than the prospect of a full re-stenciling, I would think...which is what I am looking at. Mine does not have water damage, but does have a lot of chipping on the bottom that would need repair.

Nice pickup!! I like Sinistar alot.

as for the HUO - could be, there's no way to know. The sideart on that is pristine, that's a plus. I have a verifiable, HUO Revenge From Mars pinball, but it has nicks int he cabinet, some wear on the siderails and some other stuff. HUO does NOT always mean prestine. The could have used it as a bank, who knows.

Bottom line, you got a nice game for a great price! Have fun with the restoration!

Yeah, that and the minor amount of cig burns on the control panel. Otherwise it's still a decent looking machine. A little bondo and black paint should fix that right up.

Got home and unloaded the game. There is no coin counter in the game. Must have been removed at some point. Cab is solid, but has some damage on the bottom that will require some bondo. One side is much worse than the other.

Inside is very clean. Even still has the little pouch with the spare fuses in it. Monitor has zero screen which is nice. +12v light is out on the power supply and game just gives a blank screen. Time for an order to Bob Roberts for a rebuild kit. A few bulbs are out on the control panel buttons as well.

Only having played this using an 8-way stick (which is almost impossible to do), I wasn't aware until reading the manual that with the 49-way opto stick, you can actually control your speed by how hard you push. Cool. Didn't know that.

Looking forward to getting this working, but I really won't have time to get to it for a while.
