HUO? Ms. Pacman Cabaret

Nice pick up
Was watching this on eBay
Glad it went to a good home

Say ...

I need a measurement and a pic
Of the front cabinet panel

From the top of the coin door to the top of the panel
Where the bottom of the control sits

And I'd like to see how it's cut

Could you help me out?

Nicest original I've seen. If the amusement company is still around and they kept records that long it would be sweet to be able to document it as huo. If they don't keep record by serial number, the courthouse would have record of the deed transfering title to the present owner of the house where you got it from to get the original owners name. It would probably be a fluke if the amusement co actually kept up with it that long. I agree though, good chance of it being huo. Nice score. Do the cabarets have coin meters?

I don't care for cabaret cabinets but that sure is beautiful. Sincere congrats on that. It sure is nice to see a game like this that has been cared for so well for so long, instead of left to rot in some dungeon of a warehouse somewhere.

Always have faith as "They Are Out There"...

Nice pickup.

That's great. Is the monitor burned in at all?

And LOL about traffic getting out of Queens.

I'll give them a ring and see. Can't hurt, right?

Yup has a coin meter. 36 plays. It's on free play currently though and was when I got it.

I've started to become interested in cabarets for some reason or another. I like the Taito ones best.

Believe it or not, this one almost didn't make it. Guy offered it to a scrapper who declined being that it was "too much wood and not enough metal". His wife told him to put it on eBay. Smart woman.

Excellent find Nick! 36 plays is crazy

Thanks guys. Monitor is pristine; not even a tiny bit of burn. So now I'm pretty positive that this was bought for private use. Never had anything HUO before.

And yes, traffic northbound out of NYC is a major pain in the ass. I knew what I was getting into and I'm used to it, but especially getting out to Middle Village and back. Ugh. That's why I work from home. ;)

A little video of it apart for cleaning. Bezel and plexi were super dirty hence hazy picture earlier. Now nice and bright.

Thank you
I have a cabinet with a short control panel
With no art in front
Pretty sure it came from the factory this way
As there's no sign of it being any other game then m's pac

Was thinking of modifying to accommodate the larger panel

Looks like the wood is cut flat across
And there's a peace of metal screwed on from the inside ?

sorry to ask a questions on your pick up post
You've been very gracious to help me out thank you again

Love this cabaret
Congrats

No problem. Glad to help. I'm away for the weekend but I'll get a better picture of it Sunday/Monday.

Ah no need
The cabinet that I have is A lazarian or super PAC man cabaret from what I can find and it just isn't correct to put the larger panel on it
There was another post about this exact issue I remember
And
It did come from the factory this way

The number stamped on the back is 350

I watched a video of Todd Tucky showing off his Lazarian caberet stamped somewhere in the 200s

So I assume later in the production they converted some of their leftover cabinets to the popular Mrs. Pac-Man

Unfortunate that I can't use the cooler control panel with the Mrs. PAC art
But I guess it makes it a little more unique
As this shorter control and the bracketed marquee would be unique to this factory conversion

Think I'll just have some custom size of the original art printed a little smaller and see if I can jazz it up a little

Thanks anyways

Yes, Midway was notorious for this (for their non-uprights), different runs of games seemed to go into whatever cabinets were handy. Sometimes they punched the new serial number over an old one, or added a prefix.

My Lazarian is s/n 291, and is in a very similar cabinet to Blue Print, but there's a black border on the bottom front of the CPO. This is usually a tipoff that the art was designed for a different (shorter) control panel, then applied to taller one. You see this with some Tron minis as well. You can't see it on Todd Tuckey's machine, it looks like someone cut the front of the CP off & painted the metal black to hide damage along the bend.

The metal piece on the inside of the front panel is a control panel retainer, it's present on most Midway minis.

Ms. Pac likely had a relatively large run for a mini, so I'd keep the machine how it is & keep an eye out for another in the style you prefer. It might not be like the others, but it's factory original.

The 36 plays on the meter are actually the only thing that makes me doubt that it is a pure HUO game. If they bought it and had their distributor set it up on free play then it wouldn't have any plays on the meter. However if it was out someplace public on free play, like a Doctor's office, then it would over time accrue some plays on the meter as people accidentally put money in it.

Distributor doesn't seem to be in business anymore, most businesses never, ever, ever change their phone number and that number has been registered to an investment firm since 1994.

I guess we'll never know for sure then. Oh well. Regardless, I'm happy to have such a nice original specimen. My daughter particularly loves it. Going to find a nice nook for it in the arcade.

All coin counters would have some number of plays on them just from factory testing. NIB games wouldn't show 0 on the counter.

Wow, talk about a close one! And of all the Ms Pac Man cabarets that might have ended up at the scrapper, the mint one almost got the axe.

Yeah, but the normal range for the NIB games I have seen seems to be between 99997 and 00008
