Okay, let me say this right away. I know many of you are going to be like "25 cents! I hate KI." Yes yes, we get it. You enjoy old shitty games made before I was born.

For those of you, however, that are fighting game fans, what's a truly Home Use Only Killer Instinct 1 worth, do you think? A friend of mine is selling his in mint condition. Just thought I'd ask.

well im going to an auction in a week that has one, and if its in good condition my limit is 700 for it. thats a used fec one. mint home I would think 1k+?

I'm one of those older game guys, but I have a killer instinct as well. Extremely popular, and a little hard to find in good shape. I'd say 1K is reasonable, and you would probably be able to recoup that money whenever you got sick of it, quite easily

Truly HUO must mean it has original receipts from a distributor, pictures of it being picked up or unboxed, etc... As opposed to just another really nice game that someone attached "HUO" to. If you have all that, over $1000. Otherwise, around $1000. I think you'd have trouble finding someone who'd pay more than that for it.

I think I'd be suspicious of some one claiming that they have a KI1 thats HUO. When that game came out it was pretty expensive from what I recall and made an assload of money out on the street.

If it is in fact HUO then I'd guess some where in the low $1k's. See if you can take a look at the coin meter. I know that they can be changed but you should be able to tell if its the factory meter and the number on it wont lie.

Killer Instinct came out like 16 years ago. You like old shitty games too, but you've apparently deluded yourself into thinking otherwise. ;)

Id say around 1k as well with correct color buttons/joysticks etc.

Bazinga!

I am not a fan of fighting games, but I actually do enjoy a game of Killer Instinct once in a while.

I might drop a $1000 on a HUO minty one, but full blown retail price could go all the way up to $2000. Depends on where you live at and the demand for it. I have a Killer Instinct 2, but it's not nearly as popular as a KI1.

If it's proven HUO and looks HUO? 1k. If it's 'HUO' as in 'I bought this from a closing mall arcade in the middle of the ghetto five years ago and cleaned up half of the cig burns', half that ;) If it looks minty but you're not completely sure, I'd say 700-800.

I've seen it. It's perfect. He has had it for a long while. He told me when I got it it still had the "silver tape protecting something or other". Not sure what the hell he's talking about. He also bought the extra HD that's not a HD.

I can't say with 100% certainty that it's never seen an arcade, but if it has, nobody ever played it where ever it was for the week it was there. lol

I'm guessing by silver tape he means the stuff they wrap around new games for packaging that's kind of transulent stiff saran wrap... in that case, if it's as perfect as perfect can be, a fair price would be 1k, but he could ask for more without being out of line. It's really up to how much it means to you at that point, when it's in literally perfect condition it just depends on how much the collector is willing to pay. I wouldn't go above 2k though.

i'd say in the current market you're looking at 600-800 for a nice to very nice example. HUO as a designation is practically worthless since even HUO games can be beat, and some games that came out of arcades with little use can be much nicer. look at those NIB games that just came out of the warehouse in California; nice but stored in an outbuilding that caused some damage before the box was even open.

if you're lucky and find the right buyer who really wants a near-perfect KI it could fetch $1000+ but that might be a while.

Damn I didn't realize how much ki,s were worth. Guess I can toss the thought of owning one soon. I'll be happy with my mk3 for awhile

He just said the machine is literally perfect, though. A machine that is literally flawless is worth a good bit, no matter where it comes from... and he's sure this one is HUO, too. HUO alone means nothing, but when it looks like it just came out of the box I'm pretty sure it is.

meh, just got my ass kicked by Wade for using the HUO acronym.... I got a minty Neo-Geo that was labeled HUO. But really, who gives a shit if the feet have touched retail carpet or not?? If the game is nice/mint, then it is what it is. Is anyone out there willing to pay more for a game because it has a sales receipt to some private person vs a company?

By this, I mean:
If you have 2 IDENTICAL mint games, would you pay more for the one that was "proven" HUO? By identical, I mean condition of cabinet and screen both (and not a restore).

And for those of you who would pay more (and I know your out there), just how much more??

I have one that is not HUO but looks like it could be. Its a solid 9.5/10.

Why werent the pcbs worth 3-400 when I had a few to sell? Seriously, average price on the board right now seems to be around $200-$225.

The board + working hd is worth at least 300-400 alone! I cant find one myself :(

This last year I have sold 2 working KI board sets for $200 each and recently a KI2. I was happy with the price and you tell me I under priced them? Andrew sells them on ebay w/ art and CF kits.

Easy guys. I don't like the game but he asked for no game hater posts. We should respect that.
