I see talk in different sections of this forum, concerning Humidity control.

I am using this dehumidifier in my basement, I am running two of them 24 hours a day. These have been running for 10 years, protecting my auto collection along with arcade game collections. Also keep wife's clothes as new. I have a very large basement 9000 sq/ft so many basements will only need one unit. These work much better and quieter than the Home Depot small units made in China. Perhaps this will help some of you guys.

Maybe you missed the part about the 9000 sq ft basement...

You could get three Frigidaire dehumidifiers for about $700 that do the same thing. My 70 pint has been running strong for 6 years. I assume there is central air in this mega basement...I feel like the central air would handle a lot of this issue.

No it won't. An air conditioner in the South in a basement doesn't run enough all year long to keep out the moisture.

Thank you for posting this. I've been looking for a quieter more efficient solution than my $200 Home Depot one. I will consider this for sure. I only have 1000 sq ft though so perhaps this model is overkill.... maybe they make a smaller version I'll have to check into.

Has anyone here ever used something called a "Wave" system? Evidently , it's MUCH more energy efficient. I used to run dehumidifiers in my basement but they consume something like 600W constantly so as far as efficiency goes, they're not. I installed a radon mitigation system back in '08 and one of the side benefits of it is that it keeps the basement bone-dry!

WAVE?

HAHAHAHAHHA!

It is just a vent fan. It makes your A/C (or the rest of your house) do the work of providing dry air to the basement.
