I wonder if anyone can help me with some info:

I bought this monitor off of a guy, who claimed he got it new, put it in his game, worked fine for a long while, then one day (his words) just popped and no longer worked.

I gave him $40 for it, figured I could get a replacement chassis if nothing else.

The chassis looks clean, except - at the base of the flyback and ferrite core, there a tiny bit of dark discoloration (like speckles), but so slight, not even sure it's an issue. Doesn't appear like the flyback popped. Can't see a crack, but I just don't know.

Is this one of the newer replacement monitors that was just cheap junk to begin with? Should I try replacing flyback, HOT, and caps, or are the flybacks even available? If not, does anyone have a working chassis for this thing?

I've recapped and replaced flybacks on G07, 4600, 6100, Sanyo EZ, and the old b&w stuff, but not familiar with this one.

Thanks in advance!
Joey

You have a Wei-ya monitor. Wei-ya and Huai I Electronics are the same company from Taiwan. Distributed in the USA by Alva Amusement.

Yours is a model 2820H which does not need an isolation transformer. Alva Amusement sells just the chassis if you wanted to buy just that.

You might have some bad electrolytic capacitors or a bad horizontal output transistor or bad B+ voltage regulator transistor or just simply cold solder joints.

Thanks a ton for the info, Ken!

Are there are known sync issues with this monitor in a Williams (Robotron)?

Williams games generate positive sync. These monitors only accept negative sync so they are not compatible with Williams classic games.
