HSS nintendo multi lite and gun on my vs ice climber?

Hey guys, I recently picked up a Nintendo vs ice climber.
I have little to no experience with Nintendo cabs or games other than capping a friends popeye sound and monitor and all that really was is parts swapping...
Monitor on this ice climber needs capping, but it's fully functional.

I'd like to do a high score saves multi lite kit and a light gun.

First let's start with the basics (based on the questions they ask when ordering).
What ppu? I think 3, but I posted a pic to make sure (not sure if those are the numbers in question?)
Gun attached? No, but i'd like to, if possible
What side do i want the kit on? I have no clue on this one
I'm putting this on? I know it's not a red tent but is it a dual or unisystem?

Can a gun be added? If so, is it plug and play and what gun do i need?

Thanks,
Joe

The 3 you are referring to in the picture is the main board revision not the PPU.
Ice climers uses the RP2C04-0004 PPU.

Johns website above gives alot of great info on the whole VS system.

You will be using the 7-8 or "right" side of the pcb in a single monitor (unisystem)cab.

As far as the gun goes, you can either do gun games or joystick games, not both at the same time. That goes for all VS setups, whether you're swapping boards, or chipsets, or doing a multi board.

Hooking up a gun involves a gun harness and the gun harness takes place of one of the controller harnesses. So you have to swap back and forth. In my redtent, I did make a quick disconnect so it would be easier to do, but I was young and dumb and cut into the factory wiring. But that is also an option if you choose.
A good working Nintendo revolver in orange or black which is what should go on there will set you back $200/250. Another $30 for the gun harness.
A modded Nes console Zapper is another option that some do as well.

Hopefully that helps. I hear that Highscoresaves VS lite is very nice and alot of people like it. I have about a dozen boards with games myself, so I have not yet tried it.

Great info, that about covers just about everything.
Modding the zapper doesn't look too hard (I searched based on your advice). $250 to $300 to get a working gun seems to be a pretty steep price for the arcade version of the gun.
Thanks
